"Reagan showed what high stature that a president can have — and my fear is that Bush will look diminished by comparison," said one Republican sympathetic to Mr. Bush, who did not want to be quoted by name criticizing the president.

NEVER FORGET...

...that BUSH is doing exactly what REAGAN would do to protect us all in our new War on Terrorism...

...and what the CLINTONS never did.

...This is definately not being lost on the American People.

The AP never misses an opportunity to slam the Reagan legacy. Talk about partisan media bias.

The Drudge header announces this article "Reagan Death May Be No Boost to Bush"--but I really couldn't find anything in this article to support the Drudge line. Yeah, the NYT is trying to find the black lining for Bush to help Kerry, but they can't, unless you count the stuff about Alzheimer's research.

If anything, this will lift Bush's numbers for the next couple of weeks, particularly with the improvements in Iraq, slightly lower gas prices, and new employment numbers. My only concern is about security against terrorism, esp in DC, during the next week.

I for one believe that the Hand of Providence, (Yes, that's the Big "G" God to all you atheists) was at work in calling Reagan home now.

G.W.Bush IS following his model of choosing to defeat the global evil of our day, and doing so because it is the Godly and morally righteous thing to do.

G.W.Bush IS following Reagan's model of persevering in doing what is right, due to strong moral convictions of the justness of the cause.

I believe the impact of Reagan on this election will be big. Enough people will see the correlation of Reagan and Communism and Bush and Terrorism, and how both need to be defeated in the same way.

The freaking liberal Bill Schneider at CNN was already warning Bush and Republicans Sat. night that they shouldn't use Pres. Reagan's funeral for politics because of what had happened to the dems after the Wellstone funeral. As though the President's funeral at the National Cathedral will bear ANY resemblance to the "funerally", complete with concession stands, that the pathetic dems staged in MN! But they are scared spitless that this will remind the country of what crap Reagan had to put up with from the left and what they have been doing to Bush is very similar.

The New York Times again makes a fool out of itself! Let's face it, Bill Clinton should not even be mentioned in the same breath as Ronald Reagan. And....as for John Kerry, the man should be treated like the war "Traitor" he is. John Kerry and the Democrat Party are going down big time this November. Every Republican, every conservative, every American, etc. that cares about America better get their butts out to vote and destroy this horrible political party that is bent on destroying freedom in America. The good Lord that watches over the USA has sent us his powerful sign in taking Ronald Reagan home to his real father and the eternity of peace and greatness. Reagan, like Lincoln, Roosevelt and Washington now belongs to the ages!

It did not take the Times very long to start the deconstruction and negativity. Thene again if rteagan had died on a weekday, the coverage would have been much more negative already. The Times cannot resist Monday Am bashing.

I don't know why you typed AP as the source from the article when it came from the New York Slimes and the link leads back to the Slimes

I think the trick is to use an old tried and true phrase ...

There they go again

Dignity is a winning strategy.

Now if only Bush would pick up a few more of the Gipper's ideals, things would be grand.

And Republicans said there were risks in too conspicuously invoking Mr. Reagan as part of Mr. Bush's campaign.

I noticed over the weekend that Republicans were conspicuously not invoking the similarities between Presidents Reagan and Bush, although the parallel was obvious to anyone with a brain.

Bush has the chance to complete a triple crown this Friday. Everyone (even Libs) praised his speech at the AF ACademy as one of the best of his Presidency, He followed that up with a homerun Yesterday in france, he can cap it off before the entire nation Friday with an Emotional thought-provoking Eulogy of the greatest President of my lifetime.
