Schwarzenegger raising fortune for allies (Republicans)
LA Daily News via MIami Herald ^ | June 6, 2004 | HARRISON SHEPPARD

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been appearing at fund-raisers for legislative Republicans. The result: millions of dollars in donations.

On May 24, Schwarzenegger raised a record $2 million for the GOP at a glitzy fund-raiser in downtown Los Angeles. And during a Thursday night event in Santa Barbara County, he raised $400,000 for Sen. Tom McClintock, R-Thousand Oaks -- four times more than his recall election rival has received at any event during 22 years in elected politics.

So far, Schwarzenegger has attended or committed to fund-raisers for six Republican legislative candidates, including five incumbents. His appearance typically raises about three to five times more than the candidate alone would get.

Guilty as charged. I knew from the beginning that this thread was started for the express purpose of sowing discord and I allowed myself to get sucked in.

Thanks for the rebuke. I receive it with a humble and contrite spirit.

Well, hello old friend...
Nice to see you.

As far as friction on this thread goes, consider the timing.
I think folks are just venting out of the leftover frustration
most Republicans are feeling right now, in one way or another.

After this week, it's full speed ahead.
United we stand, whether we can stand each other or not!

All that nastiness in the "eye of the beholder" -- it certainly isn't in anything I said or implied or even anthing that crossed my mind.

I point out a nice thing that Arnold does -- raises funds for Republicans and even McClintock, and some people can't stand to see that, and projecting their attitudes upon me.

How sad, for you.

Thanks for understanding.

I think if I say "the sky is blue" that is somehow interpreted that I am being "nasty".

I think some other people are the ones, trying to use even the most innocuous statements to try to rile people up.

How sad for them.

"And intern working for Senator McClintock told me they were very grateful to the governor."

See, you could have just added this information, maybe adding that the McClintock supporters, i.e. you appreciate Arnold's gesture of helping McClintock, and this could have been a nice, happy thread.

And there is a particular irony in seeing scorched-earthers citing the so-called Eleventh Commandment, isn't it? Considering which candidate scrupulously and consistently observed it, and which candidate behaved as if it simply did not apply to him — in a general election?

Yup.
If it's true that "forgiveness is the fragrance the violet leaves on the heel of the foot that crushed it,"
Arnold just released a whooooole lotta fragrant flowers.
About 400,000 to be exact. :-)
