Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been appearing at fund-raisers for legislative Republicans. The result: millions of dollars in donations.
On May 24, Schwarzenegger raised a record $2 million for the GOP at a glitzy fund-raiser in downtown Los Angeles. And during a Thursday night event in Santa Barbara County, he raised $400,000 for Sen. Tom McClintock, R-Thousand Oaks -- four times more than his recall election rival has received at any event during 22 years in elected politics.
So far, Schwarzenegger has attended or committed to fund-raisers for six Republican legislative candidates, including five incumbents. His appearance typically raises about three to five times more than the candidate alone would get.

Somebody shoulda reminded the McClintock mujihaddeen of that commandment last year. Hell, Arnold hadn't even finished his announcement before they started trotting out the attacks.
I'd also add to this post that Mayor Bloomberg has given huge sums of money to the GOP via the RNC, the NRCC, the NRSC, and individual candidates. I think he had to curtail it after McCain-Feingold, but the number was about half-a-million dollars or so-- a huge chunk of change.
Reagan himself is considered a RINO by the folks who "amended" the commandment.
But I wonder why they call folks "RINOs," when many of them are third-party types anyway.
Also, there's a three way Rat race for a local county commissioner, it will be good to vote against the incumbent Rat in that race. No chance of a Republican winning that race (my county is solidly Rat), but I'd trust a Rat businessperson over a Rat bureaucrat any day.
Good points you made about Locke, but I'm sure it was an effort to position himself as more "moderate" for higher office. He'd like to become a Cabinet officer in a Kerry or Hillary administration.
McClintock was NEVER an outsider. Schwartzenegger was.

Unfortunately, some of his own supporters don't seem to be following his example when it comes to building coalitions. Who would want to join these creeps?
You know full well that McClintock would have been a much better choice for governor than Swartzy; rainmakers are a dime a dozen, real conservatives are a mile deep and pencil wide.

Others forget that Reagan also took his battle against Ford all the way to the Republican Convention in 1976. Of course they chose Ford because, as everyone knew, Reagan "couldn't win".
Don't you understand?
When scorched-earthers swarm all over any event or article that dulls any shame they might feel over their reprehensible behavior and words during the recall, and (at best) maintain absolute silence over any positive Schwarzenegger accomplishment, they're being Principled, Real Conservative Republicans. Any time to do this, in any manner, is the right time, and the right way.
And when you point any of that out, you're being divisive. Any time you do that, in any manner, is the wrong time, and the wrong way.
They must never apologize for slander and malice.
You must always apologize for objecting to or pointing out their slander and malice.

The reason people are upset at what you are doing is because it is spitting on his beliefs and his work at the time of his death. Reagan tried to create unity among Republicans. Why take the opportunity of Schwarzenegger and McClintock coming together to create friction? If you think Governor Schwarzenegger has done something terrible by supporting Senator McClintock, by all reason write or call his office and vent your fury at him. If you can't support the governor anymore because of this, fine, but chill out for a while. McClintock is greatful for Schwarzenegger's support. And Schwarzenegger's team is greatful to senator McClintock, because they said without him the recall would have failed last October.
