Rarely in its century of existence has the somber, solemnly serious and matter-of-fact business section of the New York Times been funnier than on May 31, when it dealt at length with Air America, the new liberal talk-radio network.
Under a photograph of this network's star Al Franken who looks in absolute shock (without his customary smirk or open mouth) there is a memorable quote indeed from this fellow:
"We've had some bad management. Then we got some good management. It's a little fuzzy to me exactly who's in charge."
Why Al we thought you were!
The Times reports:
"The fledgling talk-radio network has replaced five top executives, been taken off the air in two of its top three markets and lost several crucial producers. By late April, current and former executives said last week, the company was perilously close to running out of money. It has since received an infusion of cash, though it has not disclosed how much or from whom."
Ladies and gentlemen, is it possible that this life-saving infusion of cash came from the Democratic Party?
Well, the Times goes on to report:
"The turmoil has shed light on the network's corporate culture, laying bare a mismatched collection of managers and investors, including Democratic Party fund-raisers, Internet entrepreneurs and radio veterans who, as it turned out, did not get along especially well."
Why have the Democratic Party fund-raisers not gotten along with all the others?
And is the John Kerry For President campaign going to put up for long with all the money that is being spent on this disastrous attempt to compete with primarily conservative talk radio?
With the extensive list of former officers and directors who have come and quite suddenly gone, Mr. Franken is quoted in a really memorable statement:
"Imagine how we're going to do when we know what we're doing."
Think about that, ladies and gentlemen.
How often in broadcasting history has the star of any new network ever admitted that 1) We don't know what we're doing, and 2) "It's a little fuzzy to me exactly who's in charge"?
Lie about being popular and keep it on the air til after Election Day. I pity these guys.
You cannot forget that little pre-election "revelation" about Bush's DUI that friends of Algore just happened to discover right before the election. That hurt Bush a lot, by discouraging many people from even voting, who would otherwise have voted for Bush. Also, the widespread vote fraud had a huge impact on the election. For these reasons and others, it is impossible to tell from the 2000 election exactly how the country is split between liberals and conservatives.
This is not a bad thing. It means that Dem contributors are wasting limited resources on a medium which reaches few and arguably leaves a bad impression on those that it does.
Exactly. That's the most logical reason Dean went down (as you pointed out) and why Air America is going unheard by the common listener.
The liberals are doing it to help Ketchup Boy. Its not a serious long term endeavor. They can probably raise enough money to keep it going til after Election Day, when it closes shop. Anyway, the Left already has public radio. No sense in having two liberal radio networks that cannibalize the same audience.
Scroll up and read my last post. Remember, liberals can't be honest. What they're selling is what no one wants to buy. Their candidate remains competitive only cause he pretends to be G.W Bush-Lite. Too bad if that discombobulates the DU Dummies but its the only way the Left can draw 40% of the vote in a presidential election year.
Good point.
(And it's a great way for Dems to spend money.)
The best analysis I have seen yet... my view exactly from Day One for this Goebbels-like propaganda machine. It will be gone shortly after the election.
Excellent!
Those ads cost lots of money.
Liberals spend most of their energy prevaricating about their true, evil nature. They look down on Americans, believing that they can easily deceive us all by lying about their true intentions and plans.
You mean, more votes were counted for Gore than for Bush. Big difference. When you consider how many Democrat votes are fraudulent, Bush received more HONEST votes than Gore.
The reality is that Democrats cannot compete if they depend solely on their traditional base of single welfare mothers, athiests, condom throwers, abortion enthusiasts, the "free Mumia" crowd, government-addicted minority "victims", gold-chained union thugs, screeching feminists, college professors, Hollywood drunks, America-hating malcontents, illegal immigrants, and all the rest of society's losers, parasites, and weirdos. Democrats can only win if they can con enough normal, traditional, taxpaying Americans into (inexplicably) voting with the Democrat base described above.
However, the number of such people who are stupid enough to voluntarily tape "kick me" signs to their own backs has been steadily decreasing. Therefore, the need for vote fraud by the Democrats has reached the desperation stage.
In 2000, the Democrats very nearly stole the Presidency. This year, however, will be an entirely different story because rather than a Justice Department (Clinton's) which will aid and abet Democrat vote fraud, we have a Justice Department (Bush's) which will battle vote fraud. That's a whole lotta taxpayer funded lawyers.
Bush will win in a landslide.
When's that dynamite going to explode??
The more we can ensure that all of their funding produces nothing more than Brownian motion, the better off we all are.
In fact, I'd suggest that everyone get on all the Demonrat yak sites and expound on what a great job Frankenmouth and Gabblefoolo and the rest of them are doing... Try to keep them squandering funds as much as possible!!
hahahahaha !! .....
hehe ! Thanks. :^D
That's a good point and would certainly be in keeping with the liberal mentality, but I disagree that they'll be shut down for good and all. I think they'll always have just enough funding from Democrat donors to limp along and stay on the air in left-wing markets like Seattle.
I have no doubt the demos will cheat, lie, and do anything else to win. I also have no doubt there are enough crooked judges to allow this after New Jersey and Missouri - so it doesn't matter. One crooked vote equals or cancels your legal one. Unfortunately there are enough of these people they can con to make it a close race.
I don't see a Reagan like landslide but I do think W will win. If its a landslide its because Kerry is the dullest individual ever - even worst than Gore which seems incredible.
