Believe me... I grew up during those 5 failed presidents, so I can testify to the mood back then. Myself, I had nothing but love and respect for those who wore our uniform and aswered the call to serve their country, (as I do today), but I had no respect or confidence in our leaders throughout my younger years, that all changed shortly after Ronald Reagan was sworn in.
I have always supported our leaders during the many struggles we have faced since 1960, but I was never really particularly proud of them. Ronald Reagan changed all that. He restored my sense of patriotism, and the belief that the highest office in the land was not just the grand prize for who ever promised the most. Ronald Reagan paid the utmost respect for the office he held and his leadership uplifted this entire nation as we witnessed an economic boom the likes we have never seen before

Yep, you got it right. We were headed down a spiral till he righted us.
And I just heard what the Secret Service's name for him was!
Rawhide!
Perfect.

You might like to read the old Irish prayer I just posted on the long thread.
Someone had said that RR might like an Irish wake.
This prayer seemed fitting for this son of Tipperary that he was.
Irish Blessing -- In honor of Ronald Reagan

Ronald Reagan's favorite inspiring quote was displayed on his desk in the White House Oval Office: "There's no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit."

For some reason, seeing a picture President Reagan usually brings a smile to my face.
Even though his death saddens me greatly, I still found myself grinning when looking at these pictures. I'd quit grinning and then a few minutes later find myself grinning again.
I suspect it has something to do with me remembering what an absolutely wonderful sense of humor he possessed.
I have been around since early Eisenhower years, and today marks the passing of certainly the greatest president in my time, and probably the greatest one I will have the pleasure of knowing.

Evertime I think of Ronald Reagan defending himself from one of the many baseless accusation from the Democrats, I can still hear him saying...... "Wellll....... There they go again"
