Peggy Noonan was special assistant and speechwriter to Reagan. She is also an author of numerous books, including 'When Character Was King: A Story of Ronald Reagan.' She's currently a political analyst on MSNBC.

You are very lucky when you can work for a great man or a great woman, and be even a small part of his or her efforts. 

Ronald Reagan was a great communicator not because he said things in an unusual way but because he said great things—things that were true and needed saying.  Those on the left in his day always thought Reagan had some magical way of expressing himself.  He didn't.  It was what he said that was important, not how he said it. 

He entered his presidency and immediately told the truth about expansionist communism—that was news. It hadn’t been done by a U.S. president in a long time, and never in quite the way he did it.  Reagan called Soviet communism bankrupt and said it would end in our time.  They laughed, but he was right.  And in being right, and truthful, he reignited a somnolent West, and gave heart to heroes like Natan Scharansky in the Soviet Union.

Reagan brought a constellation of virtues to the office of the presidency—guts, compassion, humor, a lack of pretension, a willingness to face the world and tell the truth, a willingness to make decisions and stand by them—and his leadership changed the world, and for the better. As president, he was a giant.

Don't allow the media to spin Reagans death as they did his life. Go to the FR Reagan Vigils post and pledge to organize or attend a vigil in your area.

There's dancin in the street over at DU. Out of curiosity I checked over there. While there was some moderation, there were many crass comments and many who were happy. Damn them.

Don't damn them. Nothing they do or say can ever erase what President Reagan was to everyone...even those who didn't like him AND....they KNOW it.

He was a man of greatness and wisdom. Something the other side will never experience. Don't concentrate on the venom they spew. Just think of "Ronnie" and all the fun times. Whatcha doin' on a website like that anyway????

You can tell by the crowds already gathering at the funeral home in Santa Monica that the press will NOT be able to spin the negativity/hate that they have for Reagan. People will come out in droves to honor this President.

Let's not stoop to their level. IGNORE the idiot liberal press/du/skerry/dnc. Rejoice in Reagan's legacy and that he no longer has to suffer.

I gave up my quest for toilet swill some years ago. I no longer visit cesspools for scenery. I wish not to live in a home overlooking a landfill. I prefer not to be invited to these indulgences and in fact find it rather odd to receive such invitations.

Your report is certainly believeable. Next time you are over there you have my permission to shame and denounce the filth. Only please don't step in it and bring it back here to soil my monitor and brain.

Even though it was kind of expected, I choked up when I heard of his death.

When he was shot, I went home and prayed the rosary. I know I wasn't alone.

A very much loved man, & we were fortunate to have him.
