I liked your Reagan story. I haven't heard the term "captains of industry" in a while.
He knew there was no pride in being poor...
That's a fact! It's early yet, and I haven't had any coffee so my mind is not working right (Is it ever?). But for some reason, I am reminded of Rev. Ike, who is reported to have said,
"The best way to help the poor is to not be one of them."

Israel's inmitable blogger Steven Plaut offers this tribute:
In my humble opinion, Ronald Reagan was the greatest American President after World War II until now. Jimmy Carter was the very worst, maybe the worst in all US history.
Incidentally, its an assessment I am with in wholehearted agreement.

"I haven't heard the term "captains of industry" in a while."That's probably because of all the Accountants and Lawyers that have taken over America's Corporations with nothing but a "bottom line" attitude and a "what have you done for me lately" management style. Too many have been "Peter Principled" to the top, like Ken Lay!!!
President Reagan admired those who could drive a corporation by looking farther down the road than the hood ornament!!!

This will cheer you up.
My wife works weekends, and when she went into town this morning, she saw a number of flags flying at full staff and got really mad.
McDonald's for instance.
She called them up when she got to work and asked the little snot (I'm a manager) why their flag wasn't at half mast. The twit didn't even know that President Reagan had died. My wife called her an ignorant little &%$)@! and hung up.
The county library flag was at full staff, too. She fired off a flaming letter to the editor.
I'm so proud of her.

God bless you Victoria for the emotions and sentiments of your heart. Our feelings should be close to the surface for the most vulnerable and innocent spirits that God sends down to this earth...I look at my three precious grandchildren and I shudder and draw back in horror at what these people would have asented to regarding their beautiful spirits and defenseless lives.
God grant that we can continue with virtue, honor, decency, respect and valor in this fight...the moral fight and challenege of our age...perhaps of all ages.

You are welcome.
...and it is true, words cannot adequately express the sentiments. But I had to give it a try.
Thanks for reading my sentiments and sharing your own.

Amen to what you said Phil. It was a miracle, but a much needed one and one that millions had prayed for.
Contemplating those amazing circumstances brings extra meaning to the scripture...but with God, all things are possible."

""The best way to help the poor is to not be one of them." Well said...and then to use those resources in teaching others, particularly your own...also not to be one of them.

Agreed...except as regards him being the best since a particular time, I would certainly reach back to the Civil War/War between the States for my southron brothers and kin...and perhaps back to George Washington himself.
As regards the worst...Carter, Clinton, Franklin Roosevelt al;l rank right up there for me.

Forever yours,

One for each century. The current century is still young and there are only two who served in it. The end of Clinton and W.

Thanks for those pics!
I believe most patriotic, God-fearing Americans agree with the sentiments and revere Ronald Reagan. He was a God send to this nation precisely when we needed it.
