I have had the honor of visiting the Reagan Library in Simi Valley two times. Awesome place! I would encourage everyone to visit if at all possible.

The obvious love of the Reagans and of the Bushes is comforting to see, for their devotion to each other is the model for all married couples to aspire to. (Ever see bill and hill in such pictures?)

There must be many millions of Germans and Russians (and millions of others) who will wake in the new morning to this news...and I believe we will see an outpouring of love for President Ronald Reagan that we might not have expected.

"President Bush has to be ready to leave his hotel around 4 or 5 am for his big day and his D-Day speech. This shows what a wonderful man our current President is, too."

Yes, it does. Thanks for posting that.

I was arriving through the gate at Denver Center (air traffic control facility) when the word was announced on the radio. I informed the gate guards and the flag immediately went to half staff. I informed the controllers on the floor of the news. Absolutely no sign of animosity from anyone I spoke with. Of course 95% of the controllers involved in the strike are now retired.

Rest in peace, President Reagan.

The GREATEST President in my lifetime... Brings tears to my eyes...

It brought tears to many eyes. Without a doubt Reagan is in a class above the rest. May we remember his amazing life, leadership, courage and strength.

President Reagan earned the love, admiration, and respect of the world. Is there room on Mt. Rushmore for another GREAT?

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up--for you the flag is flung--for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths--for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You've fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

Walt Whitman (1819-1892)

I can’t believe how crass some people can be. As much as I am oppressed to Clinton, if –God forbid – he were to fight a debilitating disease for ten years and then die, I know I would, and I would like to think most people at Free Republic would, treat the news with reverence, and respect for his family.
Oh, we'll have a few "Comment Removed By Moderator"s, but nothing like what they have at DU today, where the wackos approach being in the majority. It goes to show what I was saying the other day, that if the Clinton haters of the late 90s right often resembled a high school "outie" cliques hatred of the in group, the left's current Bush-hatred has a sort of Columbine tone.

RIP to one of the last century's greatest men.

"I've a strong sense God picked this hour to call Ronald Reagan home"

I can't shake that feeling either. I don't believe in coincidences. It's too bizarre, on the eve of the 60th Anniversary of D-Day.

Apparently, though I may not have been paying complete attention, CNN stated that people are starting to bring bouquets to the D-Day commemoration site.

Even in death, Ronald Reagan works tirelessly for his country.
