ABC just announced :( Ronald Reagan was 93
-- Ronald Reagan
I feel very fortunate that I was an eyewitness to some of the greatest moments in history, having served in the 'Corps during President Ronald Reagan's administration of this nation.
I recall a line from the movie, Ghost. "You remember, you take the love with you."
I'm just across the river. I am going to drive over to the White House. I feel like being there right now.
I can't believe CSPAN is having callers comment on this.
I expect Kerry's statement will take a swipe at him. Even money says he will.
Rest in Peace, Mr. President. You have done more than your share of making this world a truly better place. May we who remain have the courage to continue the job.
My condolences to his family, friends, and indeed to all people who cared deeply for him.
Hamlet, Act I, Scene 2
Goodbye, Mr. President, and thank you. You can rest now, the millions you have inspired will take it from here...
>>I am eager to hear Pres. Bush's statements as well - I think I'm going to need another box of kleenex, though.
FoxNews had Michael Reagan's statement a bit ago - I hope we can get that and post it...it was moving.
Thank you all for expressing the thoughts and love for President Reagan in words and pictures I couldn't find. May God continue to bless America with men such as Ronald Reagan.
"He did not have to witness the disgrace that was brought to his Office and now he dies when W can honor his memory."
So very true. I was relieved when Clinton's years were over and we wouldn't have to endure the spectacle of him hogging the camera and using the death of a great man to make political points.
I am so sad, but yet who would have wanted him to linger in the twilight? I feel so blessed that I lived through his presidency, and that my son was old enough to remember.
Jerry Falwell on now speaking very eloquently about President Reagan.
Pray for W and The Shining City on The Hill
Tremendous LEADERSHIP, stark HUMILITY! We will not see their like again!
Rest In Peace Mr. President, we will all miss you!
I know - I heard it - I began to cry all over again, when I heard Gregg Jarret read the quote.
The first President I really got to know.
All I could remember as a small boy was thinking "why do these people [media] hate him so much?"
What a wonderful legacy this man has left to his children, and to this country!
Kerry isn't that stupid. He'll say as little as possible. His campaign knows that the less he is seen and heard the better. He'll let his cronies outside his campaign do the dirty work.
Over two terms, from 1981 to 1989, Reagan reshaped the Republican Party in his conservative image, fixed his eye on the demise of the Soviet Union and Eastern European communism and tripled the national debt to $3 trillion in his singleminded competition with the other superpower.
I'll give my own Reagan reminiscings later.
foreverfree
Extremely bad taste....even for C-Span.
