Ronald Reagan was the first president I voted for when I turned 18.

Me, too.

You got it right.

Reagan was a man of substance.

Kerry is a hollow man.

"what is it with "his prettiness" on FNC he seems to be looking for ways to imply Reagan did not win the cold war and was corupt. (iran/contra)"

Shep was in such a hurry to get to the mention of Iran/Contra in his opening that he said President Reagan was "83" instead of "93".

Way to go Shep.

LOL! Your dog Reagan. Cute. There are some Reagans in my family tree. I imagine we're distantly related. To Ronald, of course, not to your dog. :o)

kcal9 , a local southern california station paid a great tribute to Reagan.

They also mentioned a website where people could send their condolences to the Reagan family: http://www.ronaldreaganmemorial.com

It's gotta be something. He's been tripping over the tele-prompter since last night.

We have all known this day was coming for a long time, but it doesn't diminish the tears one bit.

I'm proud to say that I served eight years in the Navy under the command of Ronald Reagan, and that my first ever vote in 1980 helped elect the greatest president of the 20th century. I doubt that we'll see his equal again in my lifetime.

May the gates of Heaven be open wide today, and may President Reagan's welcome home be a joyous one. Though I never had a chance to meet you this this world, I look forward to the day I can shake you hand and thank you in the next.

"...sometimes when we reach for the stars we fall short..."

This country is greater for the fact that President Reagan did NOT fall short in reaching for the stars where this country is concerned.

I hear the echoes of Reagan and his optimism for our country in President Bush.

And the same "malaise" attitude from his rival. That we heard from Carter.

IMHO we are facing another one of those critical points in our country that Reagan faced in 1981. I pray that we make the right choice again as we did 23 years ago.

Let's hope that President Bush draws some strength and insight from the words of Pres. Reagan.

Just got the message from Washington...Presidential proclamation for U.S. flags to flown at half mast for ships and half staff for buildings for a 30 day period.

Shep just signed a new 4-year contract with FNC that pays him big bucks. I don't think they would've done that if he was a boozer, although I am aware that he has somewhat of a partying history. Didn't he start his program tonight with a nice tribute to President Reagan?

That was a picture I took on Memorial Day at Mesa Verde, Colorado. I don't know what compelled me to take it... Now I know, I guess.

Thank you, Mr. President, for making the world a better place than it was when I was a child.

May God comfort Nancy and the rest of the Reagan family.

I think you might be able to cut him some slack (just a little) because he has to do this show, and he just had tears in his eyes after he showed the clip of President Bush's tearfully emotional speech about the passing of the former President. I have never seen Shep this emotional outside of the 911 tragedy. I could never be able to read the news and look sober for the camera with my heart breaking.

Ronald Reagan makes me think:

A truly great leader of THE NATION on earth,

has transitioned to the spiritual realm and now

has come to a full realization of the priorities

of life.

Some will recall that he made statements

reminding all of us who would listen that

putting the right attitudes and actions first

are the only real things that matter in life

and not rhetoric.

And, he is to be listed among the statesmen

that this country has known who cared for us,

for ALL of us and worked to unify this nation

and stand up for righteousness around the world.

President Reagan has a legacy that follows him

and it is honorable.

The hearts of my entire family are in agony

as we behold the passing of a great man

who will be known throughout history for

the good things he did, the people he helped

and the nation he built to great heights of glory.

He will NOT be thought of when blue dresses, "is"

oral sex and lies are the topics of conversation.

He was a good man.
