I don't see where Kaplan's coming from. How does the Tenet departure show that Bush's fortunes are declining?

It is called SPIN.......LEFIST SPIN.....any story EVEN IF positive (like the economy) can be spun whatever way you desire. Look for the clouds and you can find them. And of course the press/media is sure to take the NEGATIVE SLANT against conservatives at every turn.

What did I miss? "The VP is being accused of malfeasance, at best"? For what may I ask?

IMO, Bush's biggest blunder since getting elected was not immediately canning all the riff raff left over from the Clinton era.

Actually, Kaplan, what's soaring is Bush's prospects. Iraq? Looking better. The economy? Wow!

"The walls haven't collapsed around George W. Bush, but the pillars are buckling, the floorboards are rattling, the inspectors are probing, and it doesn't look good. In the White House and the Pentagon, senior officials face the prospect of criminal charges. The vice president is accused of malfeasance, at best. A key erstwhile ally in the war on terrorism has apparently turned against us in an act of criminal perfidy. And now the nation's spymaster has turned in his cloak—it's not yet clear whether he jumped or got pushed; either way, Bush's risk-rating has just soared."

Only the Kool-Aid drinking Dems could convince themselves that bringing in Giuliani would be a disaster for President Bush...

Wishful thinking on Kaplan's part. Given the recent conclusions of the 9/11 Commission report, the American people will not turn over their national security to John Kerry who never met a defense program he liked. Kerry's chief foreign policy advisor has just had to resign ignominiously because he was caught stealing classfied material. The Democrats are not serious about national security, proved it in the 1990s and have demonstrated continuously since 9/11.

Bush will win comfortably.
