"The new confirmation process is going to be ugly. No matter who the president chooses."

No it isn't. Make McCain director. That will force the RATS to shoot themselves in the head.

McCain absolutely does not have what it takes to be CIA director.

I've seen McCain in person several times during the presidential debates. Both the mayor and our senator were sitting with me and we all remarked that McCain is damaged, and understandably so considering his years in captivity.

He manages to pull it together when the camera is on him but when it's not, he's like a caged animal. I say this sadly and not to be ugly toward McCain.

That's the best idea I've heard yet. I'm sick of sKerry trying to float Sen. McCain's name around, trying to get some shine by association. As a fiscal CONSERVATIVE, I've always had respect for John McCain. Making him the head of CIA makes practical sense, because he has the chops; and it makes political sense, because the libs need to be perfectly clear: he's OURS.

If he'd take it, yes. It would be tough to keep his Senate seat, but, the value of having McCain as a public face of the admin would be invaluable.

Gads no! We need a director of the CIA that's not insane. Someone who does not have a cancerous mass pushing against the side of his brain.

McCain is WAY to Dr. Stranglove to be in any gov't position as it is.

Is Arizona's governor a Republican or Dem? If Dem, that would hand over the Senate, which would be a disaster.

I would be somewhat surprised if Tenet really came out against Bush for a few reasons.

First, Bush was the guy who stood in the gap when everyone wanted Tenet strung up.

Second, Tenet really knows how much shennigans (sp?) has been played by the democrats over 9/11, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He has seen the visceral hate for the administration and how it has gone well over the bounds of "normal" politics.

Third, he knows the threat to this country is real peril from terrorism. The dems are talking internationalization and all the UN stuff, which Tenet has seen, first hand, does not work.

So, I would be quite disappointed in Director Tenet if he were to start shilling, though, admittedly, I would only be somewhat surprised not entirely surprised.

Screw McCain. Bush needs loyal people around him. Allowing McCain to head an important agency as the CIA is just asking for more problems.
