McCain absolutely does not have what it takes to be CIA director.

I've seen McCain in person several times during the presidential debates. Both the mayor and our senator were sitting with me and we all remarked that McCain is damaged, and understandably so considering his years in captivity.

He manages to pull it together when the camera is on him but when it's not, he's like a caged animal. I say this sadly and not to be ugly toward McCain.

Interesting...

I wonder who the new DCI will be.

I'm hoping for Ollie North.

Of course he quit, that way he can have his tell-all book out by October and hit 60 minutes, Softball, and CNN.

Fox now showing Bush and talking about Tenet. Says he has a large family, and has talked about the financial sacrifices he has made.

I just don't see how, when we see the effect of media coverage on Iraq and the 9-11 commission in polls, that anyone could say that. Look at the polls from the time after Saddam was captured to now - both for the Bush re-elect and public opinion about the war, etc.

How is this Tenet resignation going to do anything other then foster another media feeding frenzy to drive those lower? Bush was doing better lately, the 6/30 handoff particulars in Iraq was going well, soldier losses have been lower - and now this.

The way he threw his briefcase into the CIA staff car gave the appearance he wasn't too happy. He is a good friend of President Bush so I hope he doesn't muddy the waters after exiting the stage.

How about Hillary for DCIA? Then she can take the fall for the next attack. After all, she is the smartest woman in the world.(/sarcasm)

Because he is a friend of the Bush family and he likes George W. Bush.

Why do you think he's still there? DUH.

Because the man is a Clinton appointee does not mean he will be speaking out against the president.

I absolutely do not see Tenet doing that or writing a book.

Agreed. The interesting thing is that GWB has rejected the offered resignation before, both after 9-11 and apparently once more, after the allegedly 'Faulty Intel' episode over the UN speech.

The likelihood is that the President has finally told him...'Get out of here'. What are the chances that this may in fact have more to do with ultimate credibility issues, and the Prez finally suspected that Tenet is not the straight-shooter he fervently wished him to be?

I wonder how the whole Chalabi intrigue may have had a hand in this...

YOU got no faith, boy. We have a good Christian leader in President Bush and we will prevail. Get yourself to the Pray for President Bush part of the Free Republic and get yourself in line. And a very pleased good bye to Tenet.

Guys get your facts right. Tenet hates Chalabi. So does the State Department and they have been illegaly undermining support for Iraq developing a real Constitutional Government that actually protects and endorse Freedom.

Chalabi doesn't wanT the UN in there to screw thing up like they did with Iraq during the 90's, but State and Tenet's boys have a hardon for the UN.

"Personal reasons?" You mean the usual, "I want to spend more time with my family" Washingtonian reason for resigning?

I must say, though, I did say WOW and HOLY CRAP, both for the Fox News Alert being a REAL alert, not a car chase in California, but really truly breaking news--and that Tenet resigned, with no hint of it coming at all.
