The first announcement of the investigation included the leaks to Newsday.

I remember Bush saying there's too much leaking going around...

then there was other rumors of additional targets, but this is from Newsday and they could be CYA.

Many reporters have been subpoenaed.

It's a waste if they don't go after Wilson himself who was leaking all over the place what he learned from his wife.

And then there's the matter that to prove the uranium connections admin figures might have leaked "documents" to reporters supporting the claim. One who may have received them is the reporter wife of Alan Greenspan.

Illegal, but not followed up because it inadvertantly supports the WMD claims.

I'm not a lawyer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Because this is an election year, the press and Dims will try everything they can to call Bush before a grand jury. I don't think he can use government lawyers to defend against a press leak. They aren't part of government business per say. Bush knows these legal tactics are going to get uglier and more broad. He can't run down to testify about anything and everything, every time the Dims demand it. It would never end. Death by a thousand cuts; Abu Graib X 10. It's time to nip it in the bud. Blind them with briefs and delays until after the election. Regardless, it will be the old Dem stand-by; "Well, he testified about those other things, why won't he testify about this?" Catch 22 for Bush. Any delay perpetrated by Ashcroft or White House lawyers will meet with predictable howls from McAwful and the press. Better to let a non-government hired-gun take the heat.

Everyone and his mother knows it was Scooter Libby. I don't see why they don't throw him overboard already. The longer this things takes, the worse it will get.

Everybody? Besides you, who?

Really? I'm sure "nonsense" is what Nixon said when he was told that a two-bit break-in could bring his presidency down.

It's never the deed - it's the coverup.

Yes, really. Dick Cheney had zip zero nada to do with Wilson going hither and yon to Niger, nor was he briefed on this exotic trek. How, then, pray tell, would he be in a position to leak about it.

What evidence is there that Dick Cheney has ever leaked one thing or engaged in unethical or dishonest behavior?

There is none.

Dan Rather is one spiteful, desperate W. story away from donning panties on his OWN head and blaming the Bush Administration for terrorizing media who DARE to dig for truth.

The crazy thing is that Republicans and Democrats alike know that Bush despises leaks and will fire anyone who commits an unauthorized one.

Think about how many things the Rats have tried to pin on the president. Not one of them has stuck. This won't either.

Inasmuch as the purported leaker shopped the story around to multiple reporters (Novak is the only one who bit), I think we'd know by now if it was Cheney who was doing the leaking.

Did you not read the article? It's not about his will.

It's from ABC News. That means they probably know less about the truth than I do.

Here's another reason for this new "scandal"..the President is leaving for the G8 on Thursday. They want to overshadow the trip. That's what they did the last time when he went to Africa.

They're investigating who gave Shermy all of this info about their investigation.

Naw, I'm just a fan of Wilson. I follow his every word, much to my detriment

Any ideas why his new book fails to mention his second wife of fourteen years, Jacqueline? Ya know, the one that worked for the French foreign service? For a man who talks so much...

Why would it make you livid if there is nothing to the story? Clinton was the most investigated President in our lifetimes (for good reason), and had this happened on his watch, I can guarantee some dust would be kicked up.

If *what* had happened under Clinton? If a CIA sub-group on their own volition sent a person known to be a political enemy of the sitting president off to a foreign land and then later leak misleading and outright false tales about the trip, lying about the WH's role in it and so on? You think that would have been kicked up?

If it had, you can bet the press would, as they ought to here, focus on this treachery to the nation, and not the lame and baseless spin that his idiotic wife's "name" was "leaked" in order to bring precious Joe Wilson down, when in fact reporters were told her role in order to explain and justify this outrageous situation. Her name was given by those sympathetic to the Wilsons in order to explain the inexplicable.

Excuse my French, but I think you've got this ass backwards. Bush told the press about him contacting the lawyer before he went on the big trip which will likely drown out coverage of this non-event.

On a totally unrelated subject, about 15 years I tried to convince a geologist to file the paperwork to name a new oilfield that we had discovered the "Ben Dover" field, but he was too savvy for me.
