The Nebraska one measured around 2.25 miles wide.

Wow, that's a monster.

...and they say everything in Texas is bigger!!!

True, I've lived through enough tornadoes to know how they are but then come the exceptions to the rules. The storm that blew an entire subdivision off the map in Jerrel, Texas and killed 30 people comes to mind. It happened over Memorial Day weekend, 1997. The F-5 was so powerful it actually removed the pavement from the roadway and stripped the hides off of cows.

That day we were watching the Indy 500 on our local NBC affiliate out of Waco which is where the storms developed. They could actually see the tornadoes from the studio and watched as several went tracking by over open country. The storms moved south down I-35 and hit Jerrel and later did damage in Austin.

My son just called from a N. Dallas (Central Expressway) restaurant where he works. Power off and high wind. I think they will be OK. Just need to hunker down. Just another lovely summer evening in N. Texas. Those who live here know what I mean. *grin*

Maybe it will skirt by. Praying for them. I tried to get a hold of my aunt in the Sampson Park area but no answer. I called my mom (in Whitney). She said the phones may be out because of downed lines.

Just talked to my father-in-law in Arlington. Downed a big tree across the street and the power is out. He lives close to Center Street and 303.

No rotation where my son is off Park Lane. Just high winds and rain so far per local Fox News.

Wow! Tons of family in Rockwall... Looks like they're getting hit now. Prayers for *all* our FReepers up there as well!

And from the direction it's taking (including Bryan), I guess I better go out and close the patio umbrella now so I won't have to mess with it at 4-5:00 AM! Being in the woods surrounded by Big trees really isn't so cool in one of these kind of storms.

Thanks for the ping, TC.

It looks like Corsicana is going to get a piece of this storm in about 30 min. They'll get alot of wind and rain, but it doesn't look like any tornadic activity. They will be wet but OK. :) I'll update.

You're in Bryan? I'm just south of Waco. Looks like it might miss us and stay East of I-35 headed towards Bryan/College Station. Last night was interesting enough -- I was praying for sleep tonight, lol.
