" . . . you don't say anything of substance... "

Well, at least Joe didn't say, "This is series" or "This is hugh."

Well, if the new government can get along better than the people on this thread, there are grounds for optimism.

He said mid-90s, not late 90s. ANWR would be producing within two years, and that would have been several years ago. If they don't bring ANWR to max production quickly, then why bother at all?

I think that is called deflecting the argument.

I can wait for an answer.... I have all day...

Thanks for your reports Euro.

Off-topic, but potentially very interesting development:

MSNBC said a news conference is coming up that will lay out fresh revelations about Jose Padilla and what he was really up to.

Stay tuned.

What IS your opinion about the fact that the Iraqis are becoming a sovereign country with their own democratic government, free from the brutal regime of Saddam Hussein??

Well, first of all, they will never be a sovereign country as long as we, the United States occupy their country.

As far as my personal opinion goes, I could give a damn what the Iraqi people do, or what kind of government they want for their own country. As far as I am concerned, they can run their country anyway they see fit.

If they want to murder each other and have endless conflicts between their fanatical religious factions, it's none of my business.

I was watching the press conference and just came back to see if others thought our President did as well as I thought he did.

I think GWB hit a grand slam....he was upbeat, direct, honest and on message!

The draining of ANWR would be gated by the capacity of the pipeline. We could pump a lot of oil but the pipeline can handle only so much (one or two million BBL/day if I recall).

IMO, we should drill ANWR and only pump enough to keep prices stable. ANWR should be our strategic petroleum reserve. The couple months' supply in the current SPR should be renamed "Tactical Petroleum Reserve".

See post up thread a bit. Rush will probably play clips throughout.

BTW, Peach, don't miss my post noting that MSNBC just said that some news about Jose Padilla will be presented shortly at a news briefing or some such event. They did not say a time. It sounded like they had just gotten word about it.

I surfed to Fox which was discussing Peterson, so they hadn't mentioned it yet.

"they'll appear as a puppet regime as long as we are there."

I have no problem with this. This is a much better scenario than the Iraqi government being an ACTUAL puppet of OBL.

The Transalaska Pipeline has shipped 14 billion barrels in its life. At this time the pipeline is pumping 1/2 of capacity. If ANWR were producing enough to use the rest of the Pipeline capacity, ANWR would be dry of easy oil in 12 years, during which time it would provide 10% of America's need for oil. There is also natural gas, but whether it could be produced profitably, the same question as for producing ANWR oil, would depend on long-term continued high gas prices.

I like the way you think. Any chance you'll be tapped as the new energy secretary?
