Hot weather brings on a beer drought

THE spell of hot, dry weather has caused a beer drought in South Wales.
Stocks of Tomos Watkin OSB in bottles have been completely exhausted over the past fortnight.
The award-winning old style bitter which is brewed in Swansea has been selling at four times its usual rate.
A massive 48,000 bottles have been sold since the hot weather descended on the region.
While the Hurns Brewing Company which makes the beer normally sells it at a rate of 6,000 bottles a week in the past fortnight the 24,000 bottle per week rate has left officials there staggered.
Hurns' managing director Phil Parry said yesterday , "We have completely sold out of bottles and we did not anticipate it so we're struggling to keep up with demand.
"It is usual to see a bit of an uplift in sales when the hot weather hits but this really has been phenomenal.
"This is the first year we have been supplying OSB in bottles throughout the summer and the sales data seems to indicate that people are stocking up for barbecues at home or at-home socialising as well as enjoying a bottle or two when they're out and about so orders have just shot through the roof.
"The trade seems to still have stocks of the product even though we as a brewery are low on supplies so the good news is all our customers should be OK for the Bank Holiday.
"However we will busy overseeing another bottle run at the brewery to ensure if this good weather continues throughout June we will be able to keep up with demand."
One of my favorite beers is Red Hook, it was made in Ballard Wa. but it may have been bought out. I also used to drink Henry Weinhards Ale, one of my other favorites. Of course in my earlier days I drank Schmidt.

Yeah I have had Dixie before, its available in most larger beer stores here. Not bad at all. I do love to sample.

IPA doesn't come from India---it's an English creation. As sailors aboard ship were guaranteed a certain ration of beer, near-mutinies would break out when the beer ration spoiled or depleted. To fix that problem, the Brits hopped up, with hops, their pale ales, as hops have preservative qualities. The new beer became the standard fare on ships making the long trip East, hence the name "India" pale ale.
I have no idea...........my dad drank it for years when I was a kid.
I thought it had something to do with maritime adventure.
As for Indian beer, Kingfisher is good.

It's made in Ethan Allen's Green Mountain state, and if you can find it south of the Merrimack River in Massachusetts, the place you found it deserves seventy five thousand gold stars. But if you ever run across a bottle, especially the Double Bag, get it: real good.

I think Schmidt is still made but it was bought out by someone. I used to love the Deer, Fish, and Duck half racks, animal beer. Its slogan, at least in Seattle was "the brew that grew with the great Northwest", used to be able to get it for under 5.00 a half rack.

A friend of mine said he enjoys micro-brewed ales and he lives in Seattle.
Negative. I tend to stick to our American products, especially those produced locally in New England. When I go for foreign, I typically go for British, Irish, Dutch, and German products. I think Heineken is probably the best mass-produced beer.
I have never had the Black Voodoo, I try to keep it somewhat light, but maybe I will try a bottle if you recomend it.

Black Voodoo is strong as an ox, in my opinion, but it is very good and flavorful.
