The "red states," where Americans overwhelmingly voted for President Bush in 2000, are often derisively called "flyover country" by the liberal elites. Flying over the nation is the only experience many of these people -- particularly those in the Eastern media establishment -- have of the heartland of America.

Good article...surprising considering the source...
From the article:
"Even though conservative journalists are often less conservative than the public, perhaps they are being tainted by life in an overwhelmingly liberal newsroom. It's either that, or not many real conservatives are getting hired in our nation's newsrooms. You decide."
I have a couple of friends who work at the Amarillo Globe News (a comparatively moderate paper, on the whole). They have told me many things about the paper...they are both conservative, straight, and have learned to keep their mouths shut! All I'm saying is, there IS a definite liberal bias in every newsroom...except for maybe the very small, rural, weekly papers.

I think the smaller newspapers used to be more apt to be conservative but that has changed. The newspaper in the town in which I grew up in Indiana follows lockstep with the mainstream press. I don't even bother to read it anymore. The media is very influential and do make and break candidates.

One of the survey questions was, "Can you think of any news organizations that are especially liberal?" Among national journalists, 62 percent said no, they couldn't. But 82 percent said they could identify a news organization that is "especially conservative."
Little papers are staffed by wet behind the ears journalism skool graduates for the most part. The editor or publisher might be more moderate, depends on the luck of the draw.

Liberals can think of conservative publications, but they can't come up with any liberal ones. This failure could be because the liberal outlets, like The New York Times, simply appear moderate to a liberal reader. But 82 percent said they could identify a news organization that is "especially conservative."

Great article, again!!! But I cannot agree with that statement! In fact, if this liberal push-polling outfit wasn't such a propoganda machine, the results would have been of a much more severe magnitude!!!
Now that they've done this poll, they'll be covered and considered "on the level" by all of liberalism for years to come. If I'm not mistaken, much of their activity is funded by Mrs. Heinz-Kerry's TIDES FOUNDATION which is Commonist in my book!!!
You are indeed mistaken. Pew funds Tides, not the other way around. Pew was founded with Sunoco money.
Most of the media come from J-schools. Tell me how many conservatives you've ever known who received journalism degrees? Also, tell me how many J-school grads passed a math course?
