Grand Funk Railroad

I'm your captain, I'm your captain,
though I'm feeling mighty sick.
Everybody, listen to me,
and return me, my ship

Even in 1971, this was a way bad decision....

Bookmark this thread and let us know what it's like in about 40 years.

Wow, I'm sorry you're this bitter, Archangelsk; however, I am entirely responsible for my financial situation. If I retire without enough money put aside I've only myself to blame.

The bottom line is that getting old stinks whether you are George Bush or not!

Same today as it was when Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes.

He's not even in charge anymore and he is still trying to help us. Great article and a very good man indeed. But, I worry because many of those symptoms and issues he describes, I am feeling at 55.......

One of my best friends and neighbors, is in his 80's. His body is trash, but he still has the mind of a dreamer.....a youthful dreamer. I don't think I will make it to 70, let alone 80, but if I do, I pray that I will still be a youthful dreamer........

"They use the word "like" all the time. My beloved teenagers can't say a sentence without saying "like."

The sprouts around me have a similar problem! AND they, like, also like to say "go". Example: "Like, I go, 'Well, what did you expect', and he goes, 'Well, like, how was I supposed to, like, know?'

"So then, like he goes..."

You get, like the drift!

To President Bush's list, I would add something from a feminine point of view:

1. I seem to remember that my skin used to fit, but now...

LOL!! Old age is not for the faint of heart!

Oh, thank you so much for giving us your personal observation of "Bar's" husband. :) After all his years in public service, we think we know those things about him but it is so reassuring to have it confirmed.

FOFLOL. Very good. Insert a "y'all" here and there and it sounds exactly like my nieces and nephews.

But reaction times are down, danger to the groin up.

Calling Dana Carvey! This has to be deliberate self-parody!

FOFLOL. Well, you know, he is very fond of Dana Carvey. In fact, he and his wife were overnight guests at the White House during 41's term.

SO Bush has a speedboat and plays tennis with Chevy Chase. So he's not allowed to talk about those things lest people think he's "flaunting" his wealth? I'm tired of these petty jealousies and all this class envy. I am far from a wealthy man but sometimes I am accused of the same thing when I talk about my new computer or my music collection. I guess because I do pretty well for myself, I'm supposed to be embarrased about it. Well I'm not. And while I can't afford a speedboat or tennis lessons with Chrissie Evert, I'm not going to hold it against those who can.

Who, if totally sane, would drive all day, walk for hours, listen to a rock concert--in the rain yet--then spend the rest of the night camped in the bed of a pickup truck?

That's the difference between 20 and 80.
Hell 20 and 40.

Sorry you can only see the downside of this wonderful article. I sent it to both my children so they will understand better why I need a hand getting out of their vehicles (boats, suvs, etc.)

I know many many people around that age in far more modest circumstances who have wonderful lives.

We may curse our bodies out occasionally, but we still love what we have left.

Are you a 'dick', or do you just play one on TV? GHWB is a class act, and methinks you are just a little jealous...

Your kinship with DU is showing through!
