"This is my first post here. been lurking for awhile. What I find interesting about religion is that it doesnt come natural. It must be taught. Why is that? Seems to me that many Christians here read and interpret the bible differently. Very confusing for someone that want taught religion. One of the reasons I have chosen no religion is because they all want to condemn me to hell if I chose the wrong one. Just an outsiders perspective. Please carry on."

Welcome to FreeRepublic. Don't be scared by the hysteria surrounding religious discussions or be scared to post.

About religion, James 1:26 says "If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. 27. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

So if you desire to discuss religion and someone attacks you for your belief, you can use this scripture to "bridle their tongue". Discussion of doctrine should not include personal attacks and hopefully, there will be plenty of courteous FReeper willing to honestly and openly discuss doctrine without resorting to "you're going to hell!" replies. Again, welcome.

Thanks Doc. I Like the freepers alot and I find fit in with most views. I tend to stay away from religous arguments though as I really dont have anything to contribute. I do find it curious how many Christians here have different interpretations of the same writings. Maybe the Moslems have similar problems with thier religions? Actually based on differnt reports I can say with some certainty that they do have problems with thier interpretations.
