Lest We Forget (Kerry's Iwo Jima problem)

counteriwo

On this Memorial day, it's important to remember what a faker John Forbes Kerry is.

On the Project Vote Smart website Kerry was asked to provide his favorites and here's what Liveshot (God Love Howie Carr for calling him that) listed:

Favorites:

Favorite President: Abraham Lincoln. 'Abraham Lincoln saved the Union. We wouldn't be the United States had he not summoned the greatest courage imaginable during the toughest period in our history.' Favorite Books: 'Flags of our Fathers' by James Bradley and Ron Powers 'Undaunted Courage,' by Stephen Ambrose Favorite Food: Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Kerry really needs to explain this. He found the flag raising at Iwo mockable back in the day, and now in his Presidential run he wants to co-opt the heroism of the American Soldiers on Mount Suribachi to get some votes.

Sick-making.

Mutual Admiration Society member, I like your way with words and shall be adopting Querry and McAinal as their new names.

They're supposed to be close friends? Really? Is that where the rumors that McAinal may run Dem? He still denies it, right? McAinal better not switch.

Ted Kennedy is al Querry's mentor and apparently McAinal and al Querry are real buddies/friends/pals.

So there may be some substance to the trial ballon about McAinal being al Querry's VP.

So saying soldiers was acceptable??

Partly. It depends on whether you are using the word "soldier" as a common noun or as a proper noun.

If you capitalize "Soldiers" (proper noun), you should be adding "of the Sea" when referring to a Marine.

Both Marines and Army Soldiers (proper nouns) are soldiers (common noun).

A soldier in the Army is a "Soldier" (proper noun, although the Army is pretty lax about capitalizing their proper name).

A soldier in the Marine Corps is a "Marine" or a "Soldier of the Sea".

Frankly, it would explain why there's been no hints of a Dem VP list and surely they're going to be going for something unique, with a twist, shaken but not the least stirred slate...I just don't want it to be McAinal...but who else? Woman? Black? CA? FL? I haven't a clue.

Should I use servicemen. Wasn't there a Navy Corpsman rasing the flag as well? So isn't using Marines still wrong?

Murray and McDermott are horrible. I'd be humiliated if they were representing me.

Have we reached the point where we dislike Kerry more than Clinton? I think we're really getting there. Clinton is old stuff now that most of his treason is behind him. Not so with Kerry-- we thought Kerry was a disaster for this country during the Vietnam era and in the Senate. We ain't seen nothing yet-- I shudder to think what he'd do as President!!

"That's a great picture."

Thank the people that made the picture possible. I found this years ago and have printed it for many WWII vets that have never seen it. Note Charles Lindberg was at the original flag raising!

Let's just resort to World War II slang and settle for "five Jarheads and their Doc". :-)

(Jarhead: Slang for Marine, dating from prior to World War II, originating from the resemblance of the Marine dress blues uniform, with its high collar, to a Mason jar.)

(Doc: The nickname invariably given to every Navy Corpsman who ever served with the Marines regardless of his lack of an M.D. degree.)

I can tell you one guy who isn't .. the guy who asked Kerry (at the Vietnam Memorial), if Kerry was there to apologize for spitting on these men when he returned from Vietnam. I hope that left a mark!
