This is where the amazing thing happened. When Whitford said, ''President George Bush was at Concordia [University] yesterday,'' the students erupted with applause and cheers. They were cheering for George W. Bush! The University of Wisconsin -- where Students for a Democratic Society, SDS, was born; the place known to be so far left it's off the charts -- had students cheering for a Republican president!

"They've received a liberal education and learned to think for themselves."
The exact opposite of what the illiberals were hoping for.

That's pretty amazing, this is by far the most liberal place such a thing has happened this graduation season. If I were Kerry I'd be very concerned about these stories. I know they are only anecdotal, but there have been too many to be just isolated incidents.

These students really "get it", regardless of liberal indoctrination.
It gives me hope for the future.

Jeepers, this is my undergrad alma mater. I am just stunned. Are they only letting smart students in who think for themselves? It sounds like it. I am so heartened. Thanks for posting this.

Those of us with "college age" offspring (and beyond) know that the DIMS are in for a rude awakening come election day!!
Too bad some of the older, "Hell no, we won't go........", generation are still suffering the ill effects of the periquot(sp?) they sprayed on the mary-ji-whana fields back then!!!!!

I live about 90 miles from Madison and our area is full of many who dropped out and came here to live cheaply.
Last summer, I had a client of about 35 from Madison. In the course of our interaction, I discovered she was conservative and I asked if she felt marginalized in Madison. She said that everyone would be surprised at the strength of Republicans and conservatives in Madison. A month or so ago, I repeated this anecdote to a Bush-Cheney04 staffer who is 19 and had spent a year at UW-Madison. She nodded and agreed w/that assessment.
The students, faculty and fellow travelers get all the press, is my guess.

It was my pleasure........God Bless these kids.
They told me that this is a war of civilizations, and that those who are attacking the president for fighting the war in Iraq would have attacked the president had he not gone into Iraq. They pointed out that the critics of the president attacked him for taking too long to go after Afghanistan . . . and yet attacked him for going to war against Iraq too soon.

"They didn't think the time was right to attack a president who was leading the country in a war against terrorism."
Wow, that's all I can say. What great news!
My sister lives in Madison & I've been there several times. I never would have expected this.
To: MamaLucci
WOW! Simply Fabulous! Our prayers are being answered, slowly, but surely! Thank you Lord for removing the blinders of liberalism from their eyes!

If college graduates are cheering the president than the Kerry campaign has got to be ordering worry medicine by truckload.
Everytime I read about Mr. Medal Tosser he's blabbering in college auditoriums. Kerry losing the college audience is bad news. All he's got left cheering for him are union thugs, eco-fascists, dead voters in Chicago, felons in prison, owners of yellow dogs and Osama. Bad times for Mr. Ketchup are coming his way.
Pass the Prozac, Terayza honey, and go slow on the gin.
