I've been doing a lot of reading on the War for American Independence (both for myself and to my daughter). This fills a lot of holes in the standard histories. Thanks.

The people who consider America the root of all evil in the world today; who write off giants like John Stark and George Washington as dead, white, racist, sexist, homophobic males; who have no reverence for the Constitution or its authors; these are my natural prey, in to whose cornflakes I will urinate at every opportunity.

Poor is the nation that has no heroes. Shameful is the one that, having heroes - forgets them.

Works for me.

I decided recently that the question of whether anything is worse than death is a key difference between liberals and conservatives.

Liberals behave as if this life is all there is. Every sacrifice must be made to alleviate poverty because it is unthinkable to liberals that anyone's entire existence should be spent in poverty.

Every natural disadvantage must be balanced by government action to establish "justice" no matter what the cost to those who must pay for it.

Every insult or attack must be forgiven rather than suggest that lives be expended to protect rights, freedoms, or property.

Those of us who believe that there are things worse than death are a mystery to liberals and threaten their comfort.

If it were in their power to do so, we would all be committed to instututions for the criminally insane.

The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertion of better men than himself.

I seek to add to their misery and honor the exertions of those whose blood, sweat, and tears bequeathed to us this Republic.

Liberals behave as if this life is all there is because they they do not believe in an afterlife. They reject these truths that we hold to be self-evident,

that all men are created equal,

that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,

that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Liberals see the Blessings of Liberty as impediments to progress.
