It diminishes the process. Consider what happens when everyone is given "stuff" without earning it. It has no purpose or meaning. Which is what homosexuals seek to do with their private sex act in public declarations. They seek to eliminate morality or any judgments from sex.

Lets make everyone a doctor, give away degrees for free. Why have standards. Want to do brain surgery, sure have a degree. Who are we to judge.

Essentially these homosexuals are demanding the catholic church "make god" in the image of the homosexual political agenda.

Let me assure you, God isn't amused. In fact, it wouldn't matter if the homosexuals infiltrated the Catholic Church to the point where it endorsed their perversions. They could have church leadership sanctify gay marriage and preach brotherly "love," but it wouldn't change their standing with the Lord one bit. Legions of gay advocates cannot thwart God's will!

Sinners have only one choice for salvation--repent, confess, then go forth and sin no more.

"A recent letter, signed by 48 congressmen and sent to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, objected to threats voiced by a few U.S. church leaders to withhold Communion from politicians who support abortion rights or stem cell research."

Might these be the same congress critters who would also scream about "separation of church and state" if the Catholic Church dared to comment on actions of congress?

Let's talk about hypocrites.

In the meantime they will be perfectly satisfied to teach your children and then have all people who preach sanity put away in mental institutions for their conservative views "for their own good".

Right now you have it with companies which are imposed in teaching homsosexuality diversity sensitivity trainging.

"Who is the church to say who can and cannot get communion?"

The most ridiculous question of the year.

It is actually quite surprising how far the "gay agenda" has come in the Catholic Church, with the patronage of powerful bishops and others.

Just as when US Circuit Courts issue opposite rulings the USSC steps in, I think this is an issue that Rome will eventually have to settle.

Why do these guys want Communion from a church that has a belief system they don't believe in? Why not go find a different church that teaches something more to their liking?

Since they are Catholics, they accept that the Church has the right and the power to form the consciences of the faithful.

That's why they want to take it over, so that it will teach that evil is good, and good is evil.

When leftists and homosexuals take over, say, the UCC, they find that they have taken over-nothing. The resident Christians just shake the dust off of their sandals and move on.

Roman Catholics find it very difficult to "move on". Many of them cannot do it.

So when a covert homosexual activist becomes a Roman Catholic bishop or archbishop, it is a big deal because many of the faithful remain and are miseducated and eventually come to believe false doctrine themselves.

Those rules are set by the church leadership.

Cinnamon Girl: See what I mean? Change the Church leadership, change the rules.

KingNo155: Cleave to the rules set by Jesus Christ and beware of false teachers, because some of the false teachers are in the church leadership.

Presumably they voted against a holiday for the Reverend Dr. King, lest they appear to be endorsing the positions of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Trenchant observation. You note that there were NO interviews with the hundreds of straight or non-"demonstrator" parish members attending the Mass.

And we both know why....

That is a matter of opinion. I personally think those who act like this are fortunate they got a blessing!

All deserve the blessing, Catholic, dissenting or not. It's not Christian to withhold that.

I'm encouraged that some Catholics are starting to draw the line, like in this article. It's a start, but they have a long way to go.

It's a matter of replacing heterodox bishops with orthodox ones. The Vatican seems to be doing it through attrition. This is part of a mess left when Paul VI died. About another 10-15 years and the bishops will have a completely different look.

Why would you say that? God Himself does not bless or condone certain acts and behaviors. The bible is very clear that God withholds blessings from some. In fact, the bible even uses the un-PC word "hate" to describe God's reaction:

Deuteronomy 12:31 You must not worship the LORD your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.

Hosea 9:15 "Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, I hated them there. Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious.

John 15:24 If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.

Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

The Holy Spirit can move well when let in. This could be a way of that happening.

Although given the resistance, I doubt it.

God can move hearts that wish to be forgiven, but we are warned that God hardens hearts that have no love and are beyond redemption. God told Moses He would harden the heart of Pharaoh.

I am a sinner as well, and I need God's forgiveness. That I why I am on my knees every night praying to Christ, and thanking Him for the cross. But we must remember that there are people who choose to spit in God's face. Too many people today take God's mercy as a given, as in:

"God will forgive me no matter what I do."

That is true, but only when the heart seeks forgiveness. Didn't Christ ask sinners "Do you really wish to be healed?" What did Jesus mean by that? I think He meant that some people are quite happy in their debauchery, sin, and selfishness---and they don't want to change.

Anyone who is engaged in homosexuality can be forgiven, but they are in position to "demand" anything from God. None of us are.

Ah, but if a demand of one thing is made and they are given something else? Something that is charitable. That this gift is disdained is something of an unChristian thing in and of itself.

A blessing never hurt anybody.

I doubt this little conflict is going away any time soon. If the cardinal persists in giving blessings, the demands eventually might stop.

Amen! Cardinal Mahoney told the "sash/wearing homos" that he would give them Communion?? God will NOT be happy unless they repent of their sins and promise to not do them again.

Gays weakened the stature of the Church from within making it so vulnerable now. Woe to thse people.
