This seems to be a pretty intense year for tornadoes. The very wet April made me think we would not see an active late spring. Wonder how the hurricane season will shake out now...

Sounds like a busy couple of days ahead. Thanks to all for an interesting and highly informative discussion last night, and unfortunately, probably today.

Can you decipher?

Cf. Science_Made_Stupid, "Looks like rain mebbe, or mebbe not."

Here in Wheaton we just had a heavy downpour with moderate cloud-to-cloud lightning and thunder. Lasted 20-30 min., preceded about an hour ago by a lighter downpour. No wind. Straight down, tropic style.

I spent the time outside managing my hydraulic engineering at the southwest corner of my house. I can see why they have trouble with dams.

The same system blew through eastern South Dakota last night--had a series of tornados spotted but fortunately little damage. Sent most of last night in the basement.

What are the odds this thing holds together until it reaches Cleveland, Ohio? I suspect the cold front will get close sometime overnight.

"ABC news radio reporting tornado with multiple fatalities in Missouri"

Today? Dang. This is the second day in a row that the Robinson's schedule takes them into the nasty weather zones. Prayers for their safety as they travel to Columbia.

"Crappy spring in New England too. Most of May was cold and rainy. The sun has come out for this weekend but still very cold for this time of year."

It has been unseasonably cool in Arkansas this month as well. We've had a few hot days, but most have been comfortable, even on the cool side earlier in the day. So much for global warming. Today has been muggy, warm and overcast. The sky looks kinda ugly.

tornado outbreak in progress over a large area...very rare situation..PDS watches from IN to IA down to TX..i never seen so many..Reminds me of the Super outbreak in 1973 where an area out ahead of the main storm alos produced many tornadoes...IN/KY area is one area to watch plus the cold fornt back west from WS to TX
