Re: Mexican trucks. The favorite approach of our local law enforcement is to call the Idaho State Police for safety
inspection on a traffic stop. Often, the inspection finds
many safety related problems. Occasionally, we find drivers
with drugs and drug paraphernalia. Frankly, I think the Mexican trucks should be required to pass a safety inspection to enter the U.S. Likewise, the Mexican truck drivers should be required to pass the same commercial driver's license and physical fitness requirements as any U.S. driver. They should also have the same driving hour restrictions. If the Mexicans want to play on our side of the border, they should have to play by the same rules as our own drivers.</p>

The other side of the coin for these Mexican trucks is what will happen when they are involved in collisions - it will be an insurance company's worst nightmare. When the truck is worth zip/nada/zero and the driver (who can't speak English) runs like hell from the accident scene, what then? Doncha just love NAFTA?
