Just got back from Day After Tomorrow, I think you wanted me to post my thoughts here, I hope you made it through the storms ok tonight.

Not bad overall, very "out there." I loved how it opened with a Cheney look-alike VP and a Saudi Prince (I understood some of his Arabic! :D ) who believed that global change was impossible. I also enjoyed the "continually dumbfounded" president who had to keep asking his advisors what to do. Of course, they killed him off in the end!

After seeing the movie, I now *completely* believe that Al Gore has lost his mind (as if he ever had it to begin with) with his continued rants about the movie being something we all need to see in order to understand what the future holds. There was VERY LITTLE actual science involved in the movie. Some things were theoretically possible, but not at all in the way it was presented in the movie. From a story telling point of view; the directors completely butchered the original story which came from "The Coming Global Superstorm" by Art Bell. I enjoyed the book much more myself. I am a lover of weather and anything based on the subject is still of some interest, as this movie was. The movie had great special affects and some interesting ideas. I would say it was worth seeing at least once, maybe not twice.

A little politicized, but not overly apparent. I do hope that people coming out of the theater realize that what they just watched was completely fictional.

I still have trouble watching movie depictions of "mass death" events occurring in NYC, or in this case, the entire northern hemisphere. I Can't help but having flashbacks to what we saw with the emergency response on 9/11.

Seattle will be under 1/2 mile of ice soon...I heard it on Art Bell last night. But Las Vegas will only drop 6 degrees. Could take less than ten years.

I knew you'd give a good analysis! I hope you enjoyed just the dynamics of the filming. I once loved disaster flicks, like Towering Inferno, Earthquake, but alas they are always worried about trumping the last film
