I am no expert, but I would like to make one teensy comment about this statement: 1. Lavender Oil (pure essential oil, NOT "fragrance" or "fragrance oil"!!!) has many uses, some of which are: headaches, muscle aches, BURNS (excellent), nervousness. Just smelling the oil can help, in the case of burns apply it directly. For sun burn, dilute with water and spray or dab on.
This is rather bad advice.
In my experience, lavender oil should NEVER be applied directly to the skin. Lavender oil itself will BURN the skin if it directly touches it. It is definitely NOT a remedy for burns.
Actually, I have years of experience with essential oils in general and lavender oil in particular. I have healed two bad burns with lavender oil applied neat to the skin. Lavedner oil is about the only oil that is safe to apply neat, other than Tea Tree to infections or cold sores on occasion.
Last year I spilled boiling water all over the back of one hand, it was the worst burn I've ever had, and I've had a lot of burns. I immersed the hand in cold water for some time while I searched for the lavender oil. After about 20 minutes of cold water, I applied neat lavender oil to the burn. After several minutes, the pain would set in, and I would sprinkle more oil After about a half an hour of this treatment, I applied a very thick layer of wet clay. In the morning the only sign of burn were two small, slightly pink spots, a very slight tenderness, and wrinkled looking skin.
Believe me, I have used lavender oil neat and it does work, and doesn't hurt the skin at all. For regular use I would recommend diluting with either water or a carrier oil such as almond or other neutral vegetable oil. But for burns, nothing matches undiluted lavender oil.
