Cops Call Spate Of Exploding Chlorine Bottles Terror Crimes
POSTED: 7:56 am EDT June 2, 2004
WOODBRIDGE, N.J. -- Police believe an incident Saturday night in which a chlorine-filled bottle exploded after being thrown into a bar is related to three similar episodes in the Iselin area over the weekend, according to a published report.
Woodbridge police have labeled the incident at the Pioneer Tavern a crime of terrorism involving chemical weapons, the Home News Tribune of East Brunswick reported in Wednesday's editions.
A water bottle containing chlorine was thrown through an open window into the bar at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. One man was injured when the bottle exploded and some of the chemical splashed in his eyes, according to police. He was treated at a hospital and released.
Two first-aid responders also were treated at the hospital and released.
Two other incidents involving exploding bottles occurred Sunday night, and an exploded bottle was found Monday morning in the driveway leading to JFK High School.
The definition of crimes of terrorism under New Jersey's Anti-Terrorism Act includes people who attempt, conspire or threaten to commit a crime, including possession or production of chemical weapons, to terrorize five or more people.
Chlorine is not listed as a chemical weapon, but the act notes that chemical weapons are limited to those listed.
Roger Shatzkin, a spokesman for the state's Office of Counter-Terrorism, said a prosecutor would decide whether the person or persons who threw the bottles would be charged under the anti-terrorism act.

State police were hoping to have the road open again in about an hour.
Police say the tractor-trailer caught fire around 6:45 a.m. A civilian helped the driver to safety, and both have only minor injuries.
The area is not the same place where a fiery tanker crash melted a bridge and closed the highway in both directions for days in March.

Hi JP, thanks for that post. It answered a question I had...were the tanks full. Yes is the very scary answer.
I've printed out the info on the trucks and passed it around to some friends at work. They'll be watching as well.
Side Note: My liberal roommate admitted last night that the lamestream media was useless, that they weren't telling us everything. I thought I would fall over. LOL!

June 2, 2004 -- A model who played a bit part on TV's "Law and Order" became the center of a real-life crime drama beneath Times Square yesterday when a mystery gunman shot her while she rode the subway, cops said.
Monica Meadows, a 22-year-old Georgia beauty who recently moved to New York to pursue stardom, told cops she was sipping a soda on an uptown W train approaching the Times Square station when she heard a popping noise and saw her white sweater turn red with blood.
"All of a sudden, she started gushing blood and people ran away. There were people screaming . . . She was, like, 'I think I've been shot . . . Somebody help me. Somebody help me.' "
...
Meadows and the gunmen [sic] were sitting near each other when he fired, police said. No one confronted her before the shooting, but cops haven't ruled out the possibility the gunman fought with someone else.
The shooter described as a white man in his early 30s with a messenger bag and shoulder-length hair walked into the next car after the attack and then disappeared into the crowd of passengers after the train stopped.
good morning everyone, happy to see we are back!!!

udio Cassette in Center City Triggers Terrorism Alert (Philadelphia - Wednesday June 2nd)
by KYW's Mike Dunn A bizarre finding in the shadow of Philadelphia City Hall on Wednesday morning has triggered an intense police investigation.
Around 8:15am, a patrol officer spotted an audio cassette taped to a utility pole outside the Masonic Temple at Juniper and Filbert Streets, across the street from City Hall and the Criminal Justice Center.
A Center City District street cleaner told the officer he had found and removed a similar cassette from another pole a short time earlier.
The tapes were enclosed in plastic sandwich bags and paper airplanes -- pointing to the tapes -- were taped alongside the cassette recordings.
The officer played one tape in his patrol car and says it contained "a Middle Eastern language." He immediately notified higher-ups.
The area was cordoned off. One official says it's likely that this will turn into a federal criminal investigation because of fears of a terrorism link. Link to Article
