I hope you're right.
I do believe this is a bell-weather election. This will be the best test I can imagine.
If the Ds can take the most successful major war in American history and paint it as a failure . . . if the Ds can convince people that this just war was not worth fighting . . . then a modern democracy can't survive in a media-dominated society.
I think most folks can see we're in a generalized global war on terror, of which Iraq is an important part. I also think a healthy majority of Americans would agree that these Islamists are a pain in the butt and are none too unhappy to see the US Government doing something useful by killing them.
The leftist press can spin it any way they want, but when folks see Americans being beheaded and their bodies mutilated by celebrating mobs they tend to want some payback. Kerry doesn't have any payback in him. Bush most certainly does.
Not in a pure democracy but America is not one of those.
We have a Senate and an Electoral College that are supposed to offset the whimsy of the public and the scaremongers in media.
BUMP
