Heck, do what I do when you have "one of those days".....blame it on your biorhythms! LOL! That's usually my excuse.
It sounds like y'all had a fabulous day! I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about being that close to a Blackhawk! What a thrill that must have been!
How cool that crewman spoke to your Dad and recognized him for his service as he did. I'll bet it meant a LOT to him (your Dad).
It thrilled me to be asked to make the CBI glass panel for your Dad. It was an honor to do it. That's my favorite item that I've created so far and I'm glad it turned out. One never knows, when drawing up a pattern, if the finished product will be ok.

I'm digital camera illiterate. I have to wait for my Dad to do whatever one does to send them to me as attachments. THEN, I KNOW what to do. He said tomorrow. The Memorial Service was "sponsored", if that is the correct term, by the Viet Nam Vets Motorcycle Club. One of their members invited me, in February, to the Military Appreciation dinner. I met some of the guys, and had a wonderful time at an event that I would normally not go to. I hate those sorts of things, but the "company" was fabulous.
Face and General Schoomaker, Chief of Staff, US Army. I got to see Face again today, as well as Bulldog, Scrounger, and RC.

That is cool. Hey, is 147 on the highway to Nenana and Fairbanks? I have been there IIRC.

It is MORE THAN OK!!! Several Viet Nam vets even came and shook his hand. After the service was over we hung around because I wanted to get a good picture of the Navy memorial thingy (I can't think of a good word) to post for someone who's Dad was at Adak during the war. Anyway, while we waited for ALL THE MOTORCYCLES to leave the parking lots (a last years picture is below), the blackhawk loaded up its dignitaries and prepared to leave. Everybody was already back from it, but they backed us all up further. The rotors started and it lifted up, moved forward and VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! It was gone in a flash! WOW!! But then we could see it circle and IT BUZZED THE PARKING LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We tried for a picture, but...we'll see tomorrow. IT WAS AWESOME!!!

Yes, Mile 147 on the Parks Highway, at Byers Lake. There were hundreds of bikers there, and it seemed like no 2 bikes were the same. Cantwell is mile 210.

Thanks the map puts it into perspective. I stopped there at 4AM on my way down to Anchorage. It was summer but it was dark per the clouds.
Neat!

I'm gonna quit fairly soon too. I'm going to another one on the park strip here in town in the morning.
Good night and sleep well, Sgt. Thanks for your service to this great country of ours and for helping honor our troops.

Good morning to you, knighthawk. I was out all day, with my Dad, a WWII vet, at a Memorial Day service. We were supposed to have rain, but the weather at the service was perfect. Hope all is well with you.
