I learned of the many medals my father was awarded, during his 21 years in the Army, only after he died. My gut tells me that he probably felt he would be dishonoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice if he did talk about them

I still try to be respectful of those with opposite beiefs. If they ruthously attack our country & GWB.. well... watch out!

I try to also .. honest disagree about things are fine.

But I do have a problem with the blind hatred coming from many of these liberals and no I will not go to the movies to see these type of liberals .. and I don't care how good the reviews of their movies are.

As I said earlier .. I don't put Tom Hanks in that category because even though I disagree with him politically .. he has shown by his actions that he does care about our country and those that bravely serve

The likes of Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon and Tim Robinson won't see a dime of my money

Your father was a true hero IMO because a true hero seldome talks about his heroics, he alway talks about the good deeds of his fellow soldiers.

"We need to have a handle on how to best fight the enemy . To eliminte from one's life the avenues which give us joy, "

While I know we may differ on this, Hollywood has failed to "give me joy", since about 1998. And I haven't missed much from not attending movies.

And I say this as a person who, in the early 1990's used to go to a movie about once a week. The content in the 90's continually went downhill, until I literally could not STAY AWAKE, for even a video tape rental that a friend had paid for. Now am I going to go to a theater and put out $10.00 for a snoozer? NO, and I don't believe I've missed a thing!

I heard Clinton helped to raise a lot of money for the memorial .. that's why he was there.

I agree he looks frail .. unusually frail!

I have to agree with the other reviewers re the need for captions, but I have gotten around that by watching it more than once. LOL

I've seen Albert Finney's "The Gathering Storm" and find "The Wilderness Years" much more accurate historically and more enjoyable; it is engrossing. I love Robert Hardy but even as one of his admirers, I would not have thought it possible for him to portray Churchill so well.

I can't stand this blind hatred of President Bush either.

I mean to disagree with him is one thing, but they are getting way too personal and over the top with thier constant attacks on him, I really don't know how he's able to take it.

I live in a rural area and there is only a hand full in my area who subscribe to the service, so the bandwidth is probably not too crowded

3 dems in the last 2 weeks have been booed over their statements about the war or the President. I sense a BIG shift in public sentiment.

Joe Biden and then who were the other two?

An interesting bit of info is that all those dem president who started wars .. it was a repub president who finished it. Only repub president who started wars also finished them.

And .. even though FDR was a dem, he hired a repub (Eisenhoser) to conduct his war. I've always given FDR a lot of credit for that.

My gut tells me that he probably felt he would be dishonoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice if he did talk about them

I have no doubt that is how he felt .. your father was an honorable man

My dad died when I was 8 yrs old, I was to young at the time to ask questions .. Mom said dad didn't like talking about the war and if he did, he spoke very little bout it

A few years ago I started researching his service time and learned many things about the infantry division he was in. Also an aunt of mine passed away recently, she had saved the letters my father sent her from that time and they have given me a glimpse of life back then

I don't know if we can ever thank these brave men enough for all they did for us and for the world.

God Bless the all

And you're cable (over TV cable). I'm DSL (over my phone line). For the same money, cable is usually faster to download. Coax beats twisted pair, for the last mile.

I stick with DSL because in the past, they've had better tech support, and because I chose not to have TV.

Have you read Flags of Our Fathers by Bradley? His dad was one of the guys atop Mt. Suribachi planting that most famous of flags. He didn't know his father had won any medals or honors during his time taking that island ... until after his father died and the family went through his papers and effects. That's what led him to write the book.

Yet ...

Frodo lives!

I don't go to the theater very often but I did enjoy The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Patriot, Finding Nemo, and a few others of late. A lot of it depends on the quality of the original content, be it book, screen play, etc.

You may list all of that as enjoyment, however, I'm more than certain that had I spent even 25 cents to see most of these, they'd be a disappointment. (The Passion I'm holding out for until I may purchase it on CD.) The rest, well, I'm really sorry that you spend time talking about them. But you obviously want to......
