The Honorable Rod Paige Speaks on the President's Accomplishments in Education

COLUMBUS, OH - On Thursday, May 27, 2004, the Honorable Rod Paige joined U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi, Ohio Bush-Cheney '04 Educators for Bush Chair Dr. George Tombaugh, members of the "Educators for Bush" leadership team and Bush-Cheney '04 supporters to announce the national "Educators for Bush" team. The press conference highlighted the President's strong record on education reform and contrasted Sen. John Kerry's record on education issues.

"President Bush has set a bold vision for American education - a vision that sets clear goals for student achievement and then provides the resources, support, and flexibility to reach those goals. No Child Left Behind is predicated on the President's deep belief that a compassionate society must provide hope and opportunity to every child. Sen. John Kerry, however, was absent from many classroom decisions and has contradicting positions on education reform. I am proud to support the continued steady leadership of President Bush and help America in continuing to keep its promise to provide every child an equal opportunity for success," Paige said.

"It is important for voters to know that while Kerry criticizes education funding levels on the campaign trail, he missed at least 24 important education votes - many votes for education funding. And in fact, No Child Left Behind funding has increased from $17.3 billion in 2001 to $24.7 billion - a $7 billion increase or 43 percent. President Bush has worked hard to for the children of Ohio and America and this is just another reason why he is the clear choice for voters this November," Tiberi said.

"President Bush is working hard for Ohio. As a result of the President's budget, Ohio would receive more than $432 million for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act special education funding and more than $409 million in Title I funding for the No Child Left Behind Act in 2005. Meanwhile, John Kerry offers only empty rhetoric and no solutions on education reform; attacking the No Child Left Behind legislation he himself voted for," Tombaugh said.

How do you stand them? I was a college teacher once, I could not take them" What do you do to get them PO'd and how do they respond? I did not realize that one could actually be a conservative teacher. Do they make you wear a special badge or something?
