Sen. Trent Lott "Interrogation is not a Sunday school meeting,"

JACKSON, Miss. -- "Interrogation is not a Sunday school meeting," U.S. Sen. Trent Lott said about the treatment of prisoners in Iraq.

The Mississippi Republican said he has seen the photos and doesn't approve of what he terms "physical perversion" in the way Iraqi prisoners have been allegedly treated.

But he said tactics like sleep depravation and other ways of scaring information out of detainees is needed, if it achieves the top priority -- saving American lives.

Lott makes his comments in an interview with a Jackson television station.

Asked specifically about a picture of a security dog close to a prisoner, Lott said he saw nothing wrong with "holding a dog up there unless the dog ate him."

A spokesman for Lott says the comments were part of a 20-minute interview about Iraq.

"Interrogation is not a Sunday school meeting," Lott said.

Well, based on some of the photos we've seen, and the arrests of some Priests for sexual deviancy, Lott could be wrong.

"...he said tactics like sleep depravation and other ways of scaring information ..."

I wonder if Sen. Lott feels the same way about the treatment US prisoners should receive? You can't have it both ways.

"You can't have it both ways."

Give me a break. Your apparent premise is that our prisoners are living as Col. Hogan in Hollywood's Stalag 13, when we know that couldn't be further from the truth. Our people have been raped, maimed, tortured and killed--their bodies dismembered and dragged around the streets and strung up from light poles.

You don't remember Shoshanna Jackson's squad, Daniel Perle, and Nick Berg very well, do you?

Though you have absolutely no perspective, it's clear you have an agenda and axe to grind.
