STATE QUASHES MILITARY CHARITY - CLAIMS SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS IS "TOO CONTROVERSIAL
KFBK 1350 AM ^ | 5-27-04 | Mark Williams

Two Faces of California State Government

While the Legislature shows courage
for Yellow Ribbon Day
Career Bureaucrat's Agenda Trash our Veterans

Just in and being covered extensively by Mark Williams on KFBK on the show today and on his website:

Veteran Steve Toll informed his email containing veteran support link, sent to fellow workers is too “controversial” by DGS Department Heads:

"While many will support the cause you are involved in, the subject matter is controversial.  And it is the method of communicating it that is a problem. I was asked to warn you and to request that you not use email in this manner in the future."

Department of General Services brass refuses to take calls from KFBK and have put their phone system over to voice mail to hide from angry listeners.  Call them and let them know what you think:  (916) 376-5000 - If they won't take calls, try the Governor (916)445-2841 and ask how this can happen.

Summary of Steve's message on Mark Talk Live"

"...it appears the Director of DGS has quietly formed a policy that emails related to supporting our soldiers are banned, as the subject matter, supporting the troops, has been deemed as too “controversial” to be associated with the State.

I found this out the hard way when, even though I thought I was following email protocol, I sent a short email to the other employees in our building about the 304th POC Fund (www.304thpocfund.org), the organization I created to support the soldiers of my old Army Reserve unit.  As soon as I sent it, the manager for the information technology section called my office chief to let her know that I was in the wrong.  Now, nothing official about this “no supporting the soldiers” policy has been sent to the staff in writing, but my manager explained to me that the IT manager told her the objection to my email came directly from the Director’s office."
How can the State turn its back on the soldiers at the time when soldiers from California are engaged in combat?

How can supporting the 20-year old widow and newborn son of a slain soldier be “controversial?”

How can trying to help a disabled soldier, whose plan of being a police officer is gone forever,  be “controversial?”

How can trying to give a night out as a thank you to the soldiers and their families who have sacrificed for nearly a year be considered “controversial?”

How can supporting the Unit’s commander and first sergeant in the effort to keep morale of the soldiers up in the face of further deployments to the war zones be considered “controversial?”

As to the “inappropriate use of State resources” mantra, we get other office-wide emails from worthy efforts, such as the breast cancer Walk for a Cure.  Now these are not State or DGS sponsored events, but I don’t believe anyone has been called to the carpet for that subject matter.

But this is California, where it's also illegal to fly the flag, believe in God or be a conservative.

Well, I meant military. Not just a grunt, a swabbie will do or a Jarhead, or plane driver. Just someone from the uniform will do.

This is typical leftist drivel. Any politician who says they support the troops but not the mission does not support the troops at all. (if they even ever supported the troops) The "support" buzz phrase is politicians trying to avoid being exposed as anti-american.

People we need to talk the talk before we vote the vote!

Call talk radio, talk to your friends, write write write to newspapers. We can connect with each other and let all people know how we all feel the same about these scumbag commies in office.

You have a good 25-40% of Liberal Americans who feel this way. This should surprise no one. The Liberal Democrats have divided America like it never has been before. The bad part about it is when the time comes the leaders will go underground and be protected and allow their followers to perish.
Liberals are worse than cancer and they are eating away at the very foundation of America and are destroying her because they have control of 90% of the media.

Help? I am still not sure how to post these items or in a way to get the message out to the broadest audience here.

Our director is breifing us now on his call with the Governor's Office and the corrections that may come down from the top. PDN's Director was not pleased when the DGS receptionist refused to name or transfer him to a spokesperson for DGS or the Director's Office. For our guy, a rude "it's being handled" doesn't sit well. "Handled by whom and how" is his minimum expectation." I heard our side of the conversation and Dave was very polite eyt firm. Being professional was returned with a dial tone when this "public servant" hung up on us. The Governor's Office of Constituent Affairs was quick to remedy the rude conduct.
