Filmmaker Moore Says He Has Berg Footage
Associated Press
NEW YORK - Filmmaker Michael Moore, whose incendiary new documentary lambastes President Bush's handling of the war, said Thursday that he has footage unused in the film of Nicholas Berg, the American civilian later beheaded in Iraq.
The footage, of an interview with Berg, "is approximately 20 minutes long. We are not releasing it to the media," Moore said in a statement. "It is not in the film. We are dealing privately with the family."
Neither Moore nor his representatives would describe the nature or contents of the interview with Berg, who held staunch pro-war views.
No one answered the phone Thursday at the home of Berg's parents in West Chester, Pa.
"Fahrenheit 9/11," which recently won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, accuses the Bush camp of stealing the 2000 election, overlooking terrorism warnings before Sept. 11, 2001, and fanning fears of more attacks to secure American support for the Iraq war.
Moore's assault on U.S. policy got him into trouble with Disney, which refused to let subsidiary Miramax release "Fahrenheit 9/11." He is still trying to work out a deal for U.S. distribution.
I can't get into the entire article at salon.com, but the teaser paragraph states that someone else informed salon that Moore had this footage of Berg. It sounds almost like Moore would have sat on this quietly if someone else hadn't come out to say Moore had it.
Yes, unless the actual contents of the tape are never really revealed, and the only publicity winds up being the
"rumors" that the Administration or its envoys are hot on the trail of Moore in an attempt to get something we're supposed to think would be damaging to them. Much politics could be played with this tape, all of it Moore's and all of it to serve direct political purposes of the dump Bush crowd. In other words, I don't think the film will ever be seen. "The Medium is the MEssage".
Good graphic.... let's all donate and send Moore a mountain of Krispy Kremes :-)
OMG! Is our Gov. going to take this? This is an on going investigation for crying out loud!!.
Who does Moore think he is?!!!!
Well, my guess is the kid was an anti war, pro ANSWER freak in Iraq, trying to talk to terrorists and be nice to them ....maybe after meeting the guy in Oklahoma. the pro war thing is bs ....and Michael Moore, or his people interviewed him before he went off to loose his life.
You've got to be kidding, applauding Moore for this. It's a significant investigation, one that Nick's closest kin may have personal or political reasons to interfere with or distort. If there is anything on that tape that puts the U.S. in a good light the father might destroy the tape and any evidence on it that leads to the man holding the knife.
You should know from the Schiavo case that sometimes the next of kin does NOT have the best interests of their relative at heart and the government is the only entity that can ensure justice.
thanks tamsey... will look now..
Ah..just read that on another thread. Good. The info is getting out and people are spreading the "news"..
There is more to this big time.
This is the most plausible explanation I can think of, except I'd disagree that this tape necessarily exists. The exact same thing could be accomplished without a tape merely by "leaks" to sympathetic media sources that such a tape exists. Nick Berg's father is a total whacko and could be counted on to participate in a fabrication if it could be used to hurt Bush or the war on terrorism.
>> It's an interesting question, but not interesting enough to interest the FBI. <<
What makes you so sure? Ashcroft's quick press conference WRT Berg and his computer password seemed awfully odd to me. Just the way Ashcroft picked and chose his words. I got the idea the government knows more about Berg, too, but doesn't want it coming out -- at least not right now.
Now I'll go adjust my hat...
Uncanny!
Your nuts!!
Curiouser and curiouser. To me this suggests that (1) Moore has been woring with the commnunist front group A.N.S.W.E.R.; (2) that Mike Berg (the father) is involved; and, sadly, (3) that there may be a lot more about Nick Berg that we don't know.
You better get your post deleted. We are not allowed to quote fron The Onion.
You are almost Too gullible to be a freeper! Micael Moore hasn't done a good thing for America...EVER....he detests America.
The reporter said Moore confirmed that the interview was doe BEFORE Berg went to Iraq. It does not say before WHICH trip...first orsecond.
The article states the interview was BEFORE Berg went to Iraq.
Is Nick Berg an Evil Forrest Gump?
>We are not allowed to quote fron The Onion.
What's the deal with that, anyway?
