No, I can't. A divided nation would have retained slavery south of the border and as Gen. Longstreet said in the movie Gettysburg, "the war is about slavery". I have no nostalgia for that.

Presumably you know that there was a LOT more going on in the causes of the civil war than just slavery.

A divided nation would have retained slavery north of the border, too. They just didn't call them slaves -- they called them Irish immigrants, and they weren't treated any better than black slaves in the South.
