We will not be able to make it tonight. I am sure the Security will be unreal for this event. We could always sell our houses to get a ticket to the shindig!! Thanks for the post!! I will support him here at home tonight! I did call the local RNC and told them to beware of all the crazy folks may be lurking!!

It was an interesting day in Nashville, Tennessee. While President Bush was here for a technology conference at Vanderbilt University and a $25,000 a plate Republican fundraiser local and Federal law enforcement descended on an American Airlines jet at Nashville International suspected of having explosive materials present. A bomb dog was guilty of having too fine a nose, signaling for a computer case that belonged to a farmer who had been handling fertilizer shortly before his flight. Fortunately the President was using an alternative airport on this trip.

A.N.S.W.E.R./MoveOn.org, members and their puppets were out in force. Around 100 protestors (200 according to them but I counted them myself) were watched closely by a dozen police personnel in cars and on foot, plus four on horseback (everybody dug the Tennessee Walking Horses). About half seemed familiar from the March 20th protest against U.S intervention in Iraq we Freeped downtown. The remainder was made up of scraggly ne’er-do-wells who seemed to be deeply into 1960’s hippie retro.

Also present were a few middle aged men who represented Veterans For Peace. They looked real nice standing next to Queers For Freedom, who were positively giddy going around accusing anyone with a flag of intolerance and bigotry. For a while all parties for and against were forced to share the same area (yes, they’re really much worse close up) until a very nice lady named Landy (?) Brown of SunTrust Bank allowed pro-Bush supporters to use her yard on the opposite side.

That good lady allowed us to assemble on her property because an especially obnoxious MoveOn guy purposely trespassed and shouted rants to his troops across the road from an amplified bullhorn after the police told him the area was off limits. He refused to desist and forced arrest and removal by putting up passive resistance. After he was taken away a halfhearted chant of “What’s the charge?” was attempted but quickly fizzled out due to the sheer stupidity of it. Those folks don’t seem to be the sharpest spoons in the drawer.

I was getting a bit bored until the mighty Wardaddy arrived and started twisting the useful idiots’ heads right off their pencil necks and caused attractive women to ovulate with a glance. Just kidding. He happens to live just down the road and couldn’t stand the thought of missing a good circus. I can’t say enough nice things about Wardaddy and his beautiful wife Sweet Virginia so will leave that up to him.

Though we were the only Free Republic members there about twelve unassociated Republicans and conservatives stood with us. One grand elderly fellow regaled us with horror stories about local politics while his granddaughters proudly put up with the heckling from across the street. We did our best to inform them about this website. By the end our small number were receiving more friendly honks and thumbs ups signs from passing drivers than the great unwashed on the other side. I’d say that’s mission accomplished.

I'm going to post this as a stand-alone article and will come back with the link. I know many of you were there in spirit and no one should feel bad for avoiding the hassle that always occurs when high-ranking officials visit. It was every bit as bad as you probably thought. It definitely reminded me that there's a war on.
