Carter's good at getting the terror ball rolling.
There is no question whatsoever that Carter was the worst President of the 20th Century. He single-handedly put us in the situation we are in now, and continues to undermine our security , to this day. Anybody who thinks its Clinton hasnt lived long enough to know better.
PING!
Gorelick was working for Carter (at the DOE) at that time
where she thrived because of her expertise ["Destruction of Evidence", Wiley Law Publications;
the 26 page booklet for The American Bar Association titled: "Structuring the Internal Investigation
When a Corporation is Faced With Parallel Civil, Criminal and Administrative Proceedings"
and the 41 page booklet: "Effective Representation of the Corporation, Its Directors,
Officers, and Employees in Grand Jury and Agency Investigations" and
the two volume book "Federal Enforcement 1987 : Representing Corporations,
Their Officers, Directors and Employees"]
BACKGROUND of Gorelick's Expertise and Carter's Role in Initiating Islamic Terror against the USA:
"Destruction of Evidence"
.
Wasn't Chrissy Matthews on his team?
Shah and his father killed around 2500 active commies and radical terrorists in 57 years of their reign.
BUT
Khomeini just killed 9000 Armed Forces members in less than 2 years. It is not clear how many others from different levels of Iranian society died in his hands.
Great read. The article lays out the series of events very nicely. I've read bits and pieces of the scenario before, but not in such a concise form.
Nice cartoon, diogenesis.
Talk about your l--o--n--g term legacies...
I was on board the USS Independence when the hostages were finally released. I'll never, ever, forgive Carter for the way he handled this entire matter.
Jimmy Carter was simply the worst President of my lifetime. The terror war against America really began with this event, with Carter's actions telegraphing to the religious fanatics America would not fight back.
I'll never, ever forgive Carter. EVER.
Well, perhaps Carter is the worst. My own vote has usually been Woodrow Wilson (thanks for the Treaty of Versailles), but Carter is surely in the running way ahead of Slick Willy. Carter gave a way the Panama Canal, betrayed the Shah, fosterd the energy crisis, presided over stagflation (remember 21% interest rates! - I remember 14+% rates when I bought a house in 1985!), drew down the military, and generally positioned the US as ineffective and so guilt-ridden it could never act. A smug, self-assured, know-it-all prig who masked his Marxism with "born-again" Christianity -- a real Elmer Gantry.
I agree. I despised the Clintons, but Jimmy Carter was without a doubt the most inept, the most incompetent, the most short-sighted, and quite simply, the worst president of the 20th century. He accomplished NOTHING that was a positive for America, but either created or set in motion scenarios that have resulted in disater for the United States (surrendering the Panama Canal so that now it is completely controlled by Communist China; the Muriel boat lift that brought thousands upon thousands of violent criminals to America from Cuba; and, of course, Iran, just to name a few).
You must meet Racebannon. He was off the coasts of Iran when the Rescuers went to save the hostages!

Good article. Carter was a total disaster both at home and internationally. I've never figured out whether he is evil or incredibly stupid. I lean toward him being stupid.
Not to mention that the CIA didn't have a clue as to what was brewing in Iran and believed that the Shah and SAVAK had total control over the mullahs.
Iran for years had been a great ally of America, until Carter. The history does not stop where this article stops, it continues into the Reagan administration. Saddam Hussein, sensing weakness and military disorder in Iran attacks hoping to gain valuable oil fields. After initial Iraqi gains the Iran military response drives the Iraqi military back. The now enemy state of America, Iran is on the verge of conquering Iraq and becoming immensely more powerful. What should the Reagan Administration do? Allow this to happen? America steps in and supports the Iraqi military ensuring a stalemate outcome of the 8 year war that killed and injured millions. Thanks Jimmy Carter, winner of the Nobel Peace prize. Remember this the next time a leftist says," Reagan gave Saddam those weapons in the first place." Or they throw the picture of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam in your face.
I lean towards him being evil.
