Kerry to Accept Nomination in Boston

To: National Desk

Contact: Stephanie Cutter of John Kerry for President, 202-712-3000; Web: http://www.johnkerry.com

WASHINGTON, May 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- John Kerry issued the following statement today on accepting the Democratic Party nomination:

"Boston is the place where America's freedom began, and it's where I want the journey to the Democratic nomination to be completed. On Thursday, July 29, with great pride, I will accept my party's nomination for President in the City of Boston. From there we will begin our journey to a new America.

"Boston is my home. It is where I raised my family. Massachusetts is the state I have proudly represented in the Senate for twenty years.

"I want to thank the Mayor, and so many people in Boston and across the State of Massachusetts who are working hard to build a world class stage, in a world class city to launch our campaign. Democrats are more united than ever in our fight to win back the White House and to make America stronger at home and respected in the world.

"Since the end of the primaries in March, more than half a million Americans have contributed to this campaign. The average contribution is $100. This incredible grassroots support has given us the capacity to fight back against the Republican money machine.

"No Democratic presidential campaign has ever before been in such a strong position.

"We believe it is right to start the general election on the same day as our opponents, and we will continue to explore every way possible to level the playing field against the Republicans' five week advantage.

"We also believe it is right to accept the nomination in Boston, and are looking forward it with excitement, energy and enthusiasm.

"We know we can't match George Bush's special interest war chest dollar for dollar.

"But we have something George Bush doesn't: people and ideas. I intend to rely on the grassroots army which has already brought us so far beyond anyone's expectations. They've shattered every grassroots fundraising record in the Democratic Party, and together they can guarantee that average Americans can decide this election, not George Bush's Rangers and Pioneers.

"It's a challenge. But our supporters in record numbers with unprecedented spirit have made it clear that there's no challenge they won't meet.

"We have miles to go before the Democratic convention in Boston. If millions more Americans accept the challenge and go to www.johnkerry.com, then before we gather in Boston at the birthplace of freedom, we can declare our independence from the Republican's old politics and help move America in a new direction."

It never happened.... there never was a plan to dely the acceptance... you all are imagining it... that idea was falsely spread by the VRWC... I love Boston.... polls had nothing to do with it....blah, blah, blah.

I disagree...I think this was smart of his handlers. They have two problems. The first is keeping Kerry in the news. The second is Kerry making an idiot of himself whenever he speaks. Here they were able to get about a week of front page coverage without Kerry having to actually say anything. And it is a week that our President wasn't dominating the news being Presidential.

What a flip-flopper. First he was going to accept the nomination in Boston. Then he wasn't. But wait! Now he's going to accept it again? This guy can't make up his mind, no matter what it is.

Kerry doesn't want to be in the news as everyime he is his numbers go down. His only chance is a Bush freefall.

Kerry wants to be in the news....this is one of the hardest times for a challenger. The President is being Presidential and no one cares about the race yet. Teraysa's boy's problem is that he makes a fool of himself every time he tries to get in the news.

Kerry said "Boston is the place where America's freedom began,....".

What happened to Philadelphia?

Oh yeah, I forgot. The Boston Tea Party. Far more important than the work of Jefferson, Madison, Hancock, Washington, Franklin, et al.

What an insufferable lout.

"We know we can't match George Bush's special interest war chest dollar for dollar.

The Bush campaign will cut him to pieces during the Olympics.
