I didn't see a live thread for it, so here it is. Randy Travis won song of the year (?) for Three Wooden Crosses.

McBride deserved it.

I can't take Twain, except to look at.

I'm kind of new to country music, but I think Vince Gill is way overrated.

Loretta Lynn backed by Vince Gill on guitar. Golly there's one big act after another this evening. Lonestar, Tim McGraw...a country music lover's fiesta!

I saw Vince Gill in Pittsburgh last summer when he played an open air concert in Point State Park. He joked about the big banner for the show's sponsor, "Dollar Bank", saying, "there were days when I only had a dollar in the bank". No sign of Amy at that performance.

I thought Three Wooden Crosses was fabulous. The first time I heard it I had tears in my eyes.

....I think Vince Gill is way overrated.

He's in the Opry, he plays great bluegrass. He's been in the business for over ten years like some other old-timers who've been good for the industry, so I'll give him a nod of respect. His luster lost a bit of shine when he divorced his wife of many years to marry Gospel crooner Amy Grant, who divorced her hubby and then married Gill.

Cutting edge stuff: "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy". Not my cup of tea, but hey, the country umbrella is mighty big.

Top vocal group: Rascal Flats.

I can't take Rascal Flats. And I'm not sure what that ride a cowboy thing was.

The only thing missing tonight is the country music.

My favorite part of the song......

We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds
We’ve got too much corruption, and crime in the streets
It’s time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground
Send ’em all to their maker and he’ll settle ’em down
You can bet he’ll set ’em down ’cause

Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune
We’ll all meet back at the local saloon
We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses

I'm partial to these lines...

Grandpappy told my pappy, back in my day, son
A man had to answer for the wicked that he done
Take all the rope in Texas
Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys
Hang them high in the street for all the people to see that

Not only a bad mouth but a bad hair night too. And, if Toby Kieth plays "Gone Fishing" one more time I might just have to drown him if I get the chance. Our local radio station plays it to death!

You could do worse than Kid....he is pretty stand up on stuff that matters.
nothing PC or Bush bashing about him.
