Pehaps the remaining science based members of the APA should publish an annex/adendum manual to adress just the PC areas of disease. It need not be as extensive as the DSM but it just needs to include items like homosexuality and other politically removed diseases.
This annex/addendum would then become mandatory for all psychologists. Even an expert testifying in court would be obligated to respond to the contents. It would become a required ownership manual. Done right any shrink who does not possess it would be deemed as unprofessional as a shrink who is "unaware" of the DSM.
Given enough circulation, the DSM editorial staff would have to directly attack the addendum and give it more legitimacy by attacking it.
