Former Vice President Al Gore was to call for the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and several other Bush administration officials in a scathing attack on the presidents foreign policy Wednesday, people familiar with the speech told The Associated Press.
In a speech at New York University, Gore was to argue that several officials, including National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice, CIA director George Tenet and a top military leader should step down because the situation in Iraq is out of control.
He was expected to place blame for the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal directly on the Bush administration officials, who he believes put in place policies of dominance and the disregard for the policy of law, said a source familiar with the speech, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity.
Gore was to claim that those policies are what led soldiers to abuse prisoners, and that top officials are therefore responsible for the scandal.
Gore was also expected to go after President Bush, arguing that his foreign policy has alienated the United States and put Americans in danger.
The speech was one of several Gore appearances sponsored since August by MoveOn.org; the liberal interest group also has a television and radio ad calling for President Bush to fire Rumsfeld.
In January, Gore attacked the Bush administrations environmental policies.

If Algore were elected, I wonder how many smoking ruins of American landmarks we would have today.
Algore is direct evidence of a broad stupid streak running through the nation.

I heard him on the CBS radio news a few minutes ago. He was raging like a lunatic, just like he did the last time. If he were speaking German you would have mistook it for a Hilter speech. Gore knows his rantings will be played endlessly on the talk shows. I don't know why he does it but it sure is fun to listen to him make an ass out of himself. :)

Gore was to claim that those policies are what led soldiers to abuse prisoners, and that top officials are therefore responsible for the scandal. Funny...I don't recall him advocating Clinton being canned for his numerous scandals, or his own illegal campaign collections from foreign sources, but then I don't really expect the left to be consistent. After all, Gore is just another leftist hypocrite.

Was to . . . was to . . . was to. Did he not make the speech? Did he say something different than anticipated? Why all the conditionals?

I wonder how many people still don't know that Al Gore is simply a walking-talking joke. He's truly a SNL spoof character.
He doesn't even anger me anymore. I just laugh.

Most people (well liberals at least) don`t realize that Al is truly insane, that he based his whole campaign symbol on conserving energy for your appliances (as you`ll notice by his blatant rip-off of the energy star logo that you find on refrigerators) and that he chose to publicly declare that felons have more of a right to vote than our own military, that he invented the internet, that he and his wife Tipper-over were the basis for the movie Love story which he tried to show by mouth bathing his wife on stage for 20 hours. Yeah Al, I bought into that one just as much as the Lisa Marie Presley-Michael Jackson deal. The guy is nuts, all kidding aside. We got Islamic fanatics salivating to blow this country and others into Armageddon, and the number one concern of this guy right now is the freggin` temperature? Say WHAT? And people are complaining that this guy lost??
