LOS ANGELES (AP) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has replaced three Democrats on the California Coastal Commission with three Republicans, the governor's office announced. Among Schwarzenegger's replacements was Steven H. Kram, an executive at the governor's former talent agency, the William Morris Agency.
The 12-member commission meets monthly to rule on development and construction along the state's 1,100-mile coastline, ranging from offshore oil drilling to expansion of the decks of oceanfront homes.
Kram donated $5,000 to help elect Schwarzenegger last fall.
One of the ousted Democrats, former California Resources Secretary Mary Nichols, was appointed in one of former Gov. Gray Davis' last official acts and served less than a year. The two other commissioners being replaced are Cynthia McClain-Hill, a Los Angeles lawyer, and Humboldt County Supervisor John Woolley.
The others appointed by Schwarzenegger are Meg Caldwell, director of Stanford Law School's Environmental and Natural Resources Law and Policy Program, and Humboldt County Supervisor Bonnie Neely, who served on the commission from 1988 to 1993.
The governor has one more commission appointment to make. The other eight commissioners are appointed by the leaders of the Assembly and state Senate.
"We're pleased the governor is turning his attention to coastal protection," said Mark Massara, who tracks the commissioners' votes for the Sierra Club. "All his appointments start with a clean slate. His environmental legacy will, in part, be determined on how these commissioners vote."

E-E-E-E-E-E-E-XCELLENT
Any clues about what they might change?
All of Gumby's last appointment acts should be over turned!
Rock.
Where are all those "oh so much more conservative than you) guys who were wringing your hands over senior tomas failure to get elected?
;>)
Way to go Arnold! Replace a few more and we can start drilling for that offshore oil. I want cheap oil & gas plus less dependence on foreign sources.
Every little bit helps!
Take the time to do some checking before you jump on a bandwagon ...again.
Remember just because someone has a capital (R) behind their name doesn't necessarily mean they are a conservative and just because someone is the director of the biggest green think tank on the west coast doesn't mean they're a greenie and just because someone opposes Walmart doesn't mean they are against free enterprise.
Care to be specific?
Actually, it's not so much that we need more oil, we need more refineries. If we had more refineries the price of gasoline would drop.
.....like in " Mc Cain"??
No
But I do care when folks offer their opinion, scorning others in the process when they obviously haven't done their homework.
In this case they both obviously assumed that because these three were Schwartzenegger appointees they must represent a faction that will bring at least "balance" to the California Coastal Commission.
This blind party loyalty is embarassing to not only the posters but also this forum.
Isn't this what you did, also? Please correct me if I am wrong and you have information that supports your insinuations. Thank you.
Tell us more about these RINOs.
Do I sense the odor of sour grapes because information wasn't delivered on a gilded platter.
Again, be prepared before entering the discussion. Run a search. These three references won't take more than an hour.
Information that is gained through effort is usually remembered long after the effort is forgotten.
Why should I spend an hour if you have some information that is easily posted?
