Absentee-ballot voting carries few safeguards

Absentee ballots allow for the ultimate in arm-chair voting.

You fill out a form, lick an envelope and sign your John Hancock -- all from the convenience of your living room.

The state Legislature keeps making the process easier, but foes of the absentee strategy say it has gone too far.

Would it be those same foes that oppose removing felons from the rolls in Florida?

Still better than electronic voting machines with no paper trail. Democrats and Republicans are worried each would try to steal the election. What I think is more likely is that a foreign government would steal the election. It won't take many precincts in Ohio or Florida to throw the election one way or the other. A foreign intelligence asset or a spy could do this given enough time to penetrate the voting machine companies.
