FAIRFAX, VA -- The National Rifle Association (NRA) is pleased to announce that Governor Mark Sanford has signed HB 3442, repealing South Carolina`s restrictive "one-gun-a-month" law. The law limited the rights of law-abiding citizens by prohibiting firearm purchases and establishing a 30-day waiting period between purchases.
"This is a great day for law-abiding firearm owners in South Carolina," said Chris W. Cox, NRA chief lobbyist. "On behalf of NRA`s four million members, I would like to thank Governor Sanford and the South Carolina Legislature for recognizing the importance of abolishing this unnecessary restriction on the Second Amendment.
"Gun rationing laws represent gun control in its worst form--they are designed solely to restrict law-abiding gun ownership. Today, South Carolina has taken a big leap forward in furthering freedom for law-abiding citizens," concluded Cox.

The 133-year-old National Rifle Association is the nation`s oldest civil rights group, and advocates enforcement of existing laws to prosecute and punish violent criminals. The NRA is the leader in teaching gun safety and promoting marksmanship. The Association has approximately four million members across America.
Another de facto registration scheme bites the dust. I couldn't evade the registration, and I didn't register.

Wow, I am shocked & happy.
Am I the only one who sees between the lines of this statement?
Am I mistaken in inferring that when Mr. Cox calls it "this unnecessary restriction on the Second Amendment" the unspoken implication is made that he might consider other restrictions on the Second Amendment to be necessary?
Was Mayor Riley behind this?
ah the Charleston Clueless Courier. er I mean Post and Courier. Claims to be conservative, but runs Wash Post and AP stories as they are. They are idiots!
That senctence referred to the "One-Gun-A-Month" Law.
I couldn't evade the registration, and I didn't register.
That sentence referred to accessing the story in the Charleston paper.
FReepmail me if you want on or off this list.
Wow!! Good for y'all.
I would hope that you're reading too much into it. It was a restriction, and it was unnecessary. You've been playing defense too long if you think like that. You're implying the NRA is in collusion with the gun grabbers who relentlessly call the NRA evil and extremist when the NRA opposes all their "reasonable" proposals for gun "safety".
I believe Riley is the Mayor of Charleston, but I'm not sure. I believe Riley is a rat. I'm in NYC, and I'm not sure to which "this" you refer, i.e. the repeal of the law or registering for access to the Charleston paper.
