Living next to the Texas-Mexico border gives one a different view of life than is experienced by most Americans. On one side of the Rio Grande are millions of Mexicans willing to risk anything to cross that ribbon of muddy water. North of the riverbank is another population made up of citizens, legal residents and undocumented workers. Ethnically, 90% of this population is Hispanic.
If you remove the divisiveness of politics and ask people how they view themselves or those around them, most will say they are Americans. Many will say they are Texans. Few, if any, claim allegiance to Mexico or any Latin American country.
The culture here is also unique. From food to festivals we all call it Tex-Mex. The richest in culture, customs and traditions of both nations have been blended into a way of life, which might seem strange to some, but proves to be very rewarding for those of us who make our homes in the Rio Grande Valley.
Now view this cultural assimilation by both Hispanic and Anglo along the U.S. border with what exists in countries experiencing immigration by Muslims.

I'm not too convinced of the "assimilation" by these Mexicans.
I see them all around (Atlanta) and they sport Mexican flags, and seem to have little respect for their new "homes."
Notwithstanding the fact that in LA the crowd was pro-Mexico/Anti-US at a US v. Mexico soccer match.
We cannot speak for those countries in Europe, but there is one thing all Islamists should quickly learn about America….it doesn’t submit to anyone.

Heck, in NYC the Puerto Ricans (who are all citizens) won't assimilate.

When I was practicing medicine in Houston, I ran into hundreds of hispanics who would not speak English, did not consider themselves American, but had no problems availing themselves to free medical care (thanks to my tax dollars).
So I take issue with the piece about hispanic assimilation. Regarding Islam, another post coming up.
We have a budding problem here. Though in contrast to Europe, at least our problem is not that big.
Muslims are our Achilles heel. Their religion contradicts the US Consitution and so the question of their assimilation does not arise. It is a non-sequitor.
Be very wary of the future. Learn from what happened to India. If Muslims can't get their way, they will try to secede (hence the existence of Pakistan). Islamic Republic of Detroit anyone? We have to nip this NOW. Maybe a consitution amendment banning Islam.

The concept is to move it out of the class of religion and into what it has actually been doing for the last 200+ years of US existence.

While the ILLEGALS continue to pour over the border and turn our cities and communities into the squalid replicas they left, this bozo wants to incite us against the Muslims, which thankfully have to cross the oceans to get here and for the most part come here legally.

The point I was trying to make is that the author is trying to divert us from a more likely, albeit more subtle danger.
Any non-Continental group of immigrants, if not constantly infused with fresh blood will eventually be absorbed Borg-like into our culture - some longer than others but the generations are weaned away from the mother country.
No so with the Latin Americans, who have a land bridge (made 8-lane one-way by our politicians).
