Father, comfort those who grieve. Send to the families the support they need at this time in very tangible ways. Grant them the blessing and gift of clear rememberance. When we grieve, we fear that we shall forget that smiling face, the dignified stance, the bouyant gait. Engrave these things on the heart so that there is confidence that they shall be retained forever. Grant them abundant faith to see them through this difficult time with their connection to You intact.

We ask that you will guide all of us for whom the sacrifice was rendered the humility to examine our lives so that we may be ever mindful that our daily activities undertaken in freedom and peace are paid for by the generosity of spirit of young men (and women) throughout our history. Let us learn in our examinations how we can live our lives in such a way so that when we finally go Home, the ones named above will greet us, shake our hands, and tell us, "you were worth it."
