Speech begins at 8:00 P.M. EDT; carried on MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, and CSPAN.
Yes. Tonight's speech seemed to me to be aimed at Iraqis more than us, which to me is an indication that Bush is more interested in winning the war on terrorists than the election, which is fine with me, and probably the only reason I'll vote for him.
I have always liked that line.
It seems apropos these days, when small minds abound, seeking to derail us.
For better or worse, we as a country have begun a Great Thing. It may fail, it may succeed, but we are there. We are attempting to remake the face of an entire section of the world. To change fanatic hostility to pragmatic self interest, if not friendship.
I hope we succeed, so I support the man I believe will lead us to that success.
"The President laid out general principles tonight, most of which we've heard before. What's most important now is to turn these words into action by offering presidential leadership to the nation and to the world. That's going to require the President to genuinely reach out to our allies so the United States doesn't have to continue to go it alone and to create the stability necessary to allow the people of Iraq to move forward. That's what our troops deserve, and that's what our country and the world need at this moment."
Please excuse my "Kerry", but WTF???
Just damn! WTF speech was he watching???
I'm almost ready to barf up the dinner that I haven't had yet!
I say this because I was reading through the thread and you weren't the slightest bit happy earlier. :)
If you need any further pointers, I wrote the book on it.
LOL. I've got quite a number of years of practice under my belt.
I beg to differ.
What a shame (sarcasm). I lost interest in Clancy after seeing the pathetic, PC changes he allowed in the film version of "Sum of all Fears."
I agree that tonight's speech was aimed directly to the people of Iraq as well as to Americans. So the sentences were clear and unambiguous.
People like Savage may say that they fell asleep while W was talking, but to me the 34 minutes just flew by. I was interested in every word.
*smooch*
That has to be one of the all-time funniest "screen shots" ever. Don King's hair---ROFL!
Will someone please tell me why this isn't on the three big channels?? No wonder the President can't get his speech out, this is not only disrespectful it should be illegal. Then those that don't have MSNBC or FOX will hear what the speech was about from the networks that didn't even care to air it. Disgusting.
OH, just wait, we haven't had a chance yet to see those "honorable" members of Congress to grab their camera time. Which will start tomorrow.
What the "conservatives with camera time" don't seem to realize is that people are still starved for a viewpoint that is missing. I kid you not, since I've been discussing this website with people, they cling to me for a different viewpoint than they are able to get.
.
JOHN KERRY supported our Terrorist Enemy HO CHI MINH against US during the Vietnam War.
JOHN KERRY supports our Terrorist Enemy now.
The Enemy is now within...
and always has been.
.
Yes.
It hit me hard when the president said the terrorists are likely to become more active and more brutal.
I'm thinking more active & more brutal in Iraq AND in the U.S.A.
I felt that this part of the president's speech told the whole story in a nutshell as to why we are there. President Bush gets the big picture:
"The rise of a free and self-governing Iraq will deny terrorists a base of operation, discredit their narrow ideology, and give momentum to reformers across the region. This will be a decisive blow to terrorism at the heart of its power, and a victory for the security of America and the civilized world."
The next time a lamestream pundit says that "President Bush needs to use his bully pulpit to ..." I may drive to NYC, enter the ABCNNDCBS studio and commit bodily mayhem on the person who says it.
Or - I may write some nasty emails to them! L!
Lots of us Freepers went to the first one and even had our own "Count The Silverwear" Ball.
You should be at the 2nd. You won't regret it.
On the last night we stood outside the White House and shouted to Clinton, "What criminals are you going to pardon?". We had no ideal how correct our chant would be.
Please join us.
Sounds like a plan! I'd be coming from Los Angeles, CA. land of fruits and nuts, and then there are the Libocrats!
Please let me know of any and all FReeper galas, I would love to be there! If it's on January 20th, which is a Thursday, I'll just take Thursday and Friday off of work, and come home on Saturday!
Double WOW PING!!!
lol!
