"Now is the time for calm determination and strength."
So true. Reminds me of Roosevelts speech where he said "we have nothing to fear but fear itself". GW is saying in so many words, "we have nothing to fear but the leftist media itself".

Lugar worships at the feet of the UN and the Eurotrash. Google his name and the speech he gave at Tufts Universtiy in Boston.

That was the intended effect.

>>"You'd think somebody would pick up the phone and call me,'' she said, lashing out at the Army hierarchy. "That should have been the protocol courtesy. I am a general officer. Nobody could spend the 25 cents to call me?''
Sounds a lot like Wesley Clark's experience, doesn't it?

I did not see the speech. Give me some slack. I read between Jwalsh07's lines. When I ask him to give it to me straight, he does. When I see it, I will try to post my own review. Bush has had a run of pedestrian speeches however. He needs to ramp it up.

Well, I agree with our policy in Iraq, and defer to the people on the ground to determine how much fist is needed.
Some conservatives seem to be trying to be armchair generals in that regard.
I occasionally throw stuff at Krystol, so I can't be a Neo, or maybe I am just a better one than he is.
LOL!

Just returned from the President's speech. Neat sitting only about 20 feet from him, and meeting him afterwards!
Big hit here at Carlisle.

Thanks-off to Tufts Univ. (after taking some blood pressure meds, of course!)

Has Lugar bothered yet to enlighten us as to exactly what he would do? I am tired of whiners with no construction suggestions, that have at least a versimilitude of being plausible, as opposed to yapping that we should just getting NATO or the UN in, and let them take some bullets for us. That of course is pie in the sky BS, and ludicrous on its face.

Karpinski reminds me of Max Headroom.

To curtail any hint of dissension in the ranks, Bush scheduled a "pep rally" with congressional Republicans speaking 35 minutes, after which, characteristically, he took no questions and lawmakers dutifully circled the wagons. That's an out and out lie; he spoke for 20 minutes and then stayed around and spoke to the GOPers for about 45 minutes, speaking with most of them individually.
